NPB Presents "Cinderella" May 5-7

North Pointe Ballet Presents Cinderella May 5-7 at Hope Community Church North Pointe Ballet returns to Olmsted Falls this spring to present another full-length classical ballet featuring a cast of professional dancers as well as local dance students. The company will perform "Cinderella" set to Sergei Prokofiev's 1944 score. The dancers tell the story of how Cinderella finds true love with the help of her Fairy Godmother, despite being held captive by her evil Step-mother and Step-sisters. Artistic Director Janet Dziak's original choreography is comical, light-hearted and easy to understand for the whole family. Performances at May 5 at 7:30pm, May 6 at 2:30 & 7:30pm, and May 7 at 2:30pm. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 27, 2017 Great Lakes Theater Announces Auditions for Actor/Teachers Great Lakes Theater (GLT) announces auditions for non-Equity actor/teachers for its School Residency Program for the 2017 – 2018 school year. Actors of all cultural backgrounds are encouraged to audition. These are full-time, seasonal, paid positions, offered from August/September, 2017 through May, 2018. Requirements include an undergraduate degree in any discipline, as well as previous stage experience or actor training. Teaching experience or prior work with elementary, junior high or high school age students is a plus, but not required. Applicants must have a valid driver license, a reliable automobile and complete a background check. Applicants are requested to prepare one Shakespearean monologue and one contrasting contemporary monologue for the audition. Both monologues should total no more than three minutes combined. All auditions are by appointment only. Applicants must schedule an audition online. CLEVELAND, OH - Great Lakes Theater will present CAMP THEATER! – a summer drama camp held at Berea-Midpark High School for students ages 4-18. Students can sign up for one or both weeks of camp, which will run June 12 – 16, and June 19 - 23, 2017. Immersing students in interactive and educational theater-based activities, CAMP THEATER! is a unique opportunity for students to work with and learn from Great Lakes Theater’s professional teaching artists in a fun, safe and supportive environment. Beginning with a 6:30 a.m. trip by a born-again couple…the cabbie's long day's journey proceeds with fares from, among many others, a dangerous trio of druggies, a piggish mini-capitalist, a benumbed rape victim, an argumentative pair of fellow cabbies, a drunken woman on welfare, a smug lawyer, a randy couple on the way to a motel, and two boisterous New Yorkers out on the town. Alternately frightening, hilarious and poignant, these sharply etched blackouts and cameos…are capped by a stunning and very touching final scene.
