Theatre 8:15 presents... Through the Looking Glass A Wild and Wacky Version of the Classic Story Book By James Devita Music and Lyrics by Bill Francoeur Director - Cory Ott Musical / Vocal Director - Holly Roby Take a wildly entertaining trip through Alice's looking glass to the beat of a hip-hopping soundtrack by Bill Francoeur. This silly adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass depicts the coming-of-age story with fun twists and music audiences of all ages will adore. You'll recognize some of your favorite characters of Wonderland and meet dozens of new ones along Alice's journey. As a pawn from the second square of the chessboard, Alice must travel to the eighth square to accomplish her goal of becoming a queen. Each step of her passage brings her face to face with new characters and adventures as well as celebrations when she achieves each aspiration. The lively stage action, zany dialogue, and eclectic mix of toe-tapping tunes will have your audiences grinning like a Cheshire cat! If you like, have heard of, or enjoy Eric Coble as a person or an award-winning playwright (recipient of the 2007 Cleveland Arts Prize) .....make sure to listen and share this new episode of Authentic Audio featuring our conversation (starts 15:15). Listen at www.authenticaudiopodcast.com Eric's plays have been staged in Cleveland, throughout the Midwest, on Broadway and across the entire country. His wide ranging writing style has earned him respect in the American Theatre. His 2014 play "Velocity of Autumn" made a long journey to Broadway and veteran actor Estelle Parson's performance in the play was nominated for a Tony Award that year. This episode begins with a story about the concept of safety, security, geography and how those facets of my life have been at odds with each other as far back as I can remember. Then, Eric and I dive into a conversation about his work, life growing up in the remote New Mexican desert and the personal & creative decisions he's made on his journey as a playwright. Former "Jersey Boy" and Broadway actor Daniel Robert Sullivan has this to say about the episode: "I highly recommend this podcast from my friend Aaron Calafato & Authentic Audio. Originally Adapted and Produced for the Stage by Theatre BAM >From the Series Created by George Newall and Tom Yohe Based on an Idea by David McCall Book by Scott Ferguson, George Keating and Kyle Hall Music and Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, Bob Dorough, Dave Frishberg, Kathy Mandry, George Newall and Tom Yohe Direction by Patrick Ciamacco Musical Direction by Ben Malkevitch Choreography by Rebecca Ciamacco The Show: Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher nervous about his first day of teaching, tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set. Together, they show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such beloved songs as "Just A Bill," "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly" and "Conjunction Junction." This stage adaptation of the Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series is fun for all ages!
