A Celebration of Dance and Music looks to showcase how interdependent music and dance truly are. By placing the musicians within the dancers area, audiences will witness the fluidity of motion and physical beauty the instrumentalists exude while playing. In addition, dancers will be able to interact with the musicians reinforcing how Cleveland Ballet seeks to re-imagine and redefine Northeast Ohios expectations of this centuries old form of dance. Tenor Mikhail Urusov will join Cleveland Ballet for the first time with the premiere of A Celebration of Dance and Music. Urusov recently performed with Opera Circle Cleveland during their annual Opera in the Italian Garden performance. During Cleveland Ballets premiere production, Urusov will sing two arias, Tomaso Giovanni Albinonis Amore Perduto and Agustin Laras Granada. The program will include original choreography by Ramón Thielen set to music chosen in collaboration with Cleveland Orchestra violinist Alexandra Preucil. It is such a pleasure to join Cleveland Ballet, offers Urusov, I saw them at Opera in the Italian Garden. The dance helped elevate the arias so much. I am excited to share the stage with them in October. Along with Usurov eight additional musicians and Preucil will accompany the resident company onstage as they dance and celebrate the best of Clevelands music and dance community. I cannot adequately express how excited we are to have Mikhail join us for A Celebration of Dance and Music, says Gladisa Guadalupe, Artistic Director. Inlet's award winning dance classes for ALL AGES begin tomorrow at the Music Settlement! Come learn from the professional dancers in the company! *Teen/Adult Modern* * Classes instruct students in modern dance, specifically Hawkins-based Release Technique. Classes begin seated on the floor, progressing to exercises standing in the center and then to movement combinations across the floor. Thursdays 5:30-7pm - Course # S-1 8041 Mondays 5:30-7pm- Course # S-1 8040 Price: $229.00 Ages: 12 and up *Nontraditional Partnering* Thursday night class will focus on the foundations of Nontraditional Partnering, a weight sharing technique where students will be taught: weight into center, weight away from center, morphing, lean becomes lift, and more. They will also explore using this technique to create and develop choreography and may even get to learn sections of Inlet repertoire that feature Nontraditional Partnering. He's joined by a bizarre band of hotel staff and guests (a tattoo artist, a slow-moving handyman, two sinister traveling puppeteers, and the writer’s creation: Coconut Joe of Kokomo). The assembled band of misfits brings his weird story to life, while creating a few wild ones of their own. _Like I Say _is an unpredictable, structurally bizarre and strangely comic whirlwind of a play with stories within stories, weird puppet shows, an Alpine zombie resort, and much more.
