HARBOR, A COMEDY BY CHAD BEGUELIN, OPENS JULY 8 AT CONVERGENCE-CONTINUUM. A hilarious and touching romp into the shifting nature of the meaning of family, HARBOR tells the story of two newlyweds, Kevin and Ted, living in tranquil, affluent domesticity. That is, until Kevins pregnant slacker sister and her precocious teenage daughter show up unannounced at the couples beautiful Sag Harbor home and all hell breaks loose. The bonds between kith and kin are tested in this alternately uproarious and moving comedy. HARBOR is directed by Cory Molner, and features Cat Kenney, Maya Jones, Patrick Gladish and Gideon-Patrick Lorete. HARBOR opens Fri, July 8 and runs Thurs-Sat at 8 pm through July 30 at the Liminis Theater, 2438 Scranton Rd, Cleveland 44113 in the historic Tremont neighborhood. Beck Center Fiddle Club BCFC, led by award-winning Celtic and Scottish fiddler, Bruce Erwin, is designed to explore traditional or "roots" music of a variety of cultures and styles including American, Celtic, Scandinavian, Eastern European and other ethnic groups, as interest arises. This group is meant to be both multi-generational and multi-instrumental - other folk instruments are welcome! Participants should be able to play in the keys of A, D and G. Music reading would be helpful, but not imperative. Focus will be on group playing and interaction. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS 10 Minute Plays 21st Annual One Act Festival Ten Below The Fine Arts Association will once again showcase original, unproduced 10-minute plays. Those chosen will be fully produced as part of the 21st Annual One Act Festival - Ten Below in February, 2017 at The Fine Arts Association. Submissions of original ten-minute plays will be accepted beginning Friday, July 1, 2016. Submission deadline is Monday, August 15, 2016. NEW THIS YEAR: Only ONE 10-minute submission will be accepted per playwright. Submit your favorite! The number of plays to be produced will be at The Fine Arts Association's discretion and will depend on the mix of qualified submissions. Original plays accepted for the Festival will be announced between October 17 and October 28. The plays selected will be given full production within the capabilities and budget of The Fine Arts Association. There are no submission fees for this Festival. There will be no monetary stipend for plays used in the Festival. Festival Submission Guidelines Submission Guidelines: - Submission must be an original, unproduced 10-minute play at time of submission. Plays that have had staged readings will be accepted. Plays that have received full productions, either professional or amateur, prior to submission will not be accepted. Legal clearance of materials not in the public domain is the full responsibility of the playwright. - Limit of ONE play may submitted by each playwright. - Maximum Length: 10 pages not including title pages. Play should run in the 10 minute range. Longer submissions will not be considered. - Scripts may be comedy and drama. Not open to musicals. No more than 6 characters. - Simple set and costumes needs and minimal technical requirements. Only basic furniture and minimal props available for the production. - Plays must be submitted with pages numbered and include on the title page the following contact and bio information: Playwright's name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address and a brief biography. - International submissions are welcome. All scripts must be in English. - All play submissions will be handled with care. However, The Fine Arts Association assumes no responsibility for lost or damaged scripts. Open Mic Shakespeare This Saturday!

This Saturday July 2nd, The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival will be hosting the next gathering of it's revitalized series---OPEN MIC SHAKESPEARE, from 2:00-4:30pm at the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Lee rd. Public Library! We will be reading Part 1 of the "The Tragedy of Cymbeline." Last month, we followed the Bard to a mysterious island in the Mediterranean! This month, we land in the United Kingdom---BEFORE it was united. In "Cymbeline", Shakespeare weaves a tale of two lands, Rome and Britain, who's respective people are questioning the relative meaning of "love and honor". Due to the play's length, we'll be reading the first half of it this month and the second half of it next month. Open Mic Shakespeare is an ongoing play-reading series brought to you by The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival. One day each month, we invite anyone and everyone to stop in and read a Shakespeare play with us, at a cool spot in the Greater Cleveland area. This month, we'll be meeting twice, Saturday July 2nd and Saturday July 30th, 2-4:30pm, at the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Lee Rd. Public Library, Meeting Room B. Like our classic summer performance season, entry to Open Mic Shakespeare is absolutely free, now and forever.Speaking of which, once you're done reading Part 1 of Cymbeline this Saturday, go out and catch our wonderful production of Richard II happening at the historic Garfield Monument in Mentor!
