Guest dance professionals and staff come together to provide a 2-week intensive that includes technique classes in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Conditioning, Tap, Pointe (or pre-pointe), and Variations. Students will be divided into two different levels based on age, experience, and technical skill. Each level will also include workshops on improvisation, choreography, nutrition for dancers, and injury prevention & recovery. Students will learn classical and contemporary repertoire that will be performed at an informal showcase for families and friends at the end of the intensive. Olmsted Performing Arts. SPEND YOUR SUMMER WITH US! HATHAWAY BROWN THEATRE INSTITUTE PROFESSIONAL THEATRE TRAINING FOR YOUNG PEOPLE Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute (HBTI) is entering its 4th summer, offering performing arts training and professional production experiences for youth people. There is still time to register. *HBTI*, a part of the Performing Arts Department at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights Ohio, offers young people a challenging curriculum of drama, dance and/or music, as well as the opportunity to participate in informal presentations and fully staged productions. HBTI boasts instructors who are some of the top professional actors, directors, designers and academics in the area, and who have a long list of successful former students who have gone on to Broadway, film and television. This summer returning faculty include Anjanette Hall (Advanced Acting), Lara Mielcarek (Acting), Dan Hendrock (Acting for the Camera), John Krol (music), India Burton (Acting) and Ryan Zarecki (stage combat and Prime), Bebe Weinberg Katz (dance). New instructors are Devon Shriver (Dance), Andy Novak (Music) and Kyle Jozsa (Storytelling and Prime). Directing the main stage productions will be Fred Sternfeld (Into the Woods) and Bebe Weinberg Katz (Fiddler on the Roof). Exciting new program offerings this summer include: Storytelling, Acting for Dancers, Advanced Stage Combat, and an extended Advanced Acting Workshop (now 3 weeks) along some special guest workshops. *HBTI* offers programs on two levels: Grades 1 – 4, and Grades 5 – college. Classes are available in two 3-week sessions and one 2-week session, beginning June 20, July 11 and August 1, respectively. HBTI Director, Bebe Weinberg Katz said, "While the training at HBTI is geared toward the young performer interested in a professional theatre career, our students gain the confidence, discipline and social skills that will help give them the extra edge in this highly-competitive world, no matter what their eventual field of pursuit. The students also find the process immensely fun, exciting and rewarding, which is one of the reasons our first three years have been such a big hit." Over the first three years of its existence, the Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute (HBTI) taught over 500 students in acting, musical theatre and dance and involved over 200 of its students in highly acclaimed productions that have received numerous broadwayworld.com nominations. *A Chorus Line* (2014) won "best choreography for educational or community theatre and last summer’s production of *Rent: School Edition *(2015) won for “best theatre production for young audiences.” *HBTI* will also mount two main stage productions: *Fiddler on the Roof, *directed by Bebe Weinberg Katz (July 1 – 10) and *Into the Woods, *directed by Fred Sternfeld (July 29 – August 7). World Premiere of Les Hunter’s “To the Orchard”

Playwrights Local 4181 announces the world premiere of Les Hunter’s contemporary drama, To the Orchard. Directed by Dale Heinen, the play runs May 27 through June 5 at Waterloo Arts in North Collinwood and June 10 through 12 at Dobama Theatre in Cleveland Heights. In To the Orchard, college student Rachel Bergman reveals her sexual identity to her Orthodox Jewish father, who also is struggling with his own hidden past. In coming to terms with each other--and themselves--the pair must reconcile the conflicting pulls of tradition and individual desire. The play takes place in Brooklyn in the recent past, but incorporates dreamlike visits to turn-of-the-century England and the lost Jewish Eastern Europe. The spirits of Robert Plant and Virginia Woolf add a touch of magic realism to this intimate work about making mistakes, coming clean, and the power of history and family. The cast of To the Orchard features Robert Branch, Kelsey Angel Baehrens, Andrea Belser, and Michael Regnier. A Murder Party Auditions

“A Murder Party” is a feature length comedy drama set in late Victorian era England. The story follows Mickey Davenport and his band of friends as they attempt to cover up an accidental death, encountering shenanigans along the way. Auditions will be held on Saturday, June 4th at the Elyria Public Library (West River Branch) in the Miller Room from 10 am to 5 pm. If you are interested but cannot attend auditions, please ask the director about video auditions. All actors must speak with an English accent, and characters Connie and Abigail must speak with a “Cockney” accent. Longtime faithful servant to the Davenport family. Dies under mysterious circumstances. LORD CHARLES BLUFFINGTON - Male, 20’s. Best friend of Mickey Davenport. He is foppish, flirty, flamboyant, and often self-centered. SIR EDMUND LOVE/VICTORIA MADDOX - Female (impersonating a male), 30’s. She is shrewd and clever, a private detective under investigation of the Davenports under the guise of a deceased family friend. LADY MINERVA BLUFFINGTON - Female, late 20’s-early 30’s. Lord Bluffington’s older sister, proud, calculating, and suspicious of everyone. Like her brother, she is often self-centered. THE CORONER’S ASSISTANT - Male, late teens-early 20’s. Nervous and skittish, he is pulled into helping cover up Connie’s death. DELILAH ASCOTT - Female, early 20’s. Lord Bluffington’s beautiful fiancé. Sweet and delicate. ABIGAIL SLY - Female, late teens-early 20’s. Street rat and professional pickpocket. Agrees to pretend to be Connie’s niece to aid Mickey and his friends in covering up Connie’s death. MR.
