Ensemble Theatre’s ‘Farragut North’ is stuck in a political spin cycle Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal Member, International Association of Theatre Critics With a candidate debate in Cleveland’s rear view mirror and a party convention on its horizon, the timing for a play about the current state of American politics couldn’t be better. But while the timing is right, the play selected by Ensemble Theatre isn’t. Beau Willimon’s “Farragut North” offers an insider’s view of the cut-throat strategizing, rampant paranoia and high testosterone that drives the team that drives the campaign of a would-be President. The play, written in 2008, is inspired by Willimon’s first-hand experience working as an aide on Howard Dean's 2004 run for the White House that self-destructed during the Iowa caucus. It could easily have been inspired by the abundance of films that share its singular focus on the real power behind politicians, including "The War Room," "Primary Colors," “The Candidate” and “Wag the Dog.” Yes, this has been done before and, more recently in the 2011 film “The Ides of March” and the Netflix original TV series “House of Cards,” it has been done better. In Loving Memory

Brandon Landers, of Los Angeles, died August 20, 2015 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident involving a drunk driver. He was born April 9th in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended and graduated from Kent State University majoring in computer science & political science.Brandon was a member of the Order of the Vision of the Film Directors of America. He also is the recipient of multiple filmmaking awards throughout the world. He attended Grace Episcopal Church in Venice.Brandon is survived by his parents, brother and his sister in Cleveland and Akron Ohio. He also leaves his fans, friends and colleagues in the professional and film world.Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30a.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angeles. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the M.A.D.D. (Mother's Against Drunk Driving) program. Envelopes will be available at the Cathedral and can also be mailed to P.O. Audition notice for Hudson Players fall production of Play On! by Rick Abbott Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French Directed by; OCTA Award-winning director, June Organ Auditions will be held on *September 13 and 14 at 7pm* at the Barlow Community Center, 41 S. Oviatt St. Hudson, Ohio. *Performance dates are; November 6,7,13,14,15,20,21. * Anyone auditioning should be prepared to read from the script. Play On! is the hilarious story of a theater group trying desperately to put on a play in spite of maddening interference from a haughty authoress who keeps revising the script. Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show, Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal, and the final act is the actual performance in which anything that can go wrong does. When the authoress decides to give a speech on the state of modern theatre during the curtain calls, the audience is treated to a madcap climax with a thoroughly hilarious romp. Wandering Aesthetics Announces Fall Youth Theatre Classes After some very successful Summer Theatre CAMPS, Wandering Aesthetics is proud to announce our upcoming session of youth theatre classes. Wandering Aesthetics’ Director of Education Kyle Jozsa will lead our fall session. Wandering Aesthetics uses a play-based approach to teach, guiding students to learn through imagination and experimentation.
