Arlene Cassara Dance & Theater Center will be hosting their Open House & Fall Registration THIS Saturday, August 15th from 10am-3pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to view the studio, meet the staff and ask questions about the upcoming school year. Classes are offered in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, hip-hop, contemporary, lyrical, musical theater and Dance Intro. Levels include beginning, intermediate and advance for ages 3 1/2 through and including ADULT. ACD&TC is very proud of their adult program which includes classes for beginners through advance. CALL FOR MUSICIANS! Collaboration with The Movement Project

*The Movement Project 2015-2016 Season* *Call for Musicians: **Application Due September 1st* The Movement Project is a professional modern dance company whose mission is to challenge perspectives, evoke social change and to bridge communities through the power of movement. For our 2015-2016 season, TMP is creating a new work exploring the physical and emotional state of musicians during performance. We are looking to hire 3 musicians to compose, collaborate and perform with 3 TMP choreographers. Together, the choreographer and artist will create a piece with original composition and a choreographic work that explores the complexities in the musical score, as well as the physical embodiment of musicians in performance. The final product will include 3 dance solos accompanied onstage by a musician. Length of each solo will be between 5-6 minutes long. Meaning each musician must compose a work between 5-6 minutes in length. The performance will take place May 20th and 21st, 2015 at the Lakewood Masonic Temple and a “work in progress preview” on February 27th (location TBD). Verb Ballets Returns to Tremont's Arts in August this Saturday Free Outdoor Performance Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 8:30pm Verb Ballets is honored to perform at Arts in August on Saturday, August 15, 2015 for their west side summer appearance. This free community dance performance will feature new repertory and audience favorites. Including the Cleveland World Premiere of newly commissioned ballet, Because This Must Be, by Lauren Edson, an emerging choreographer and former dancer with Trey McIntyre Project. Her work hailed in reviews as, "dance was one of finely constructed beauty and serenity, which was at times thrust into tension. Yet, the work blended the two dichotomies with a harmony". Join us on stage at 7:45pm prior to the show for a interactive children's movement group led by professional dancers from Verb Ballets. Followed by the performance at 8:30pm. Olde Town Hall audition call for Wait Until Dark

To kick-off our 36th season is the chilling thriller, "Wait Until Dark." Auditions will be held on Sunday August 23rd from 2-4pm and Monday August 24th from 7-9. The show will run on October 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24th at 7:30 pm and on October 18 at 3:00 pm for a matinee. The show will be directed by John Schneider with Steve Benefit as Assistant Director. Those coming for auditions should be prepared to read from the script with others to select the best cast. They also should be able to provide scheduling conflicts, contact information, and be able to provide a brief history of their theatrical background. The theater is located at 36199 Center Ridge Rd. North Ridgeville, Ohio 44039. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the theater at 440-327-2909. Character Breakdown for “Wait Until Dark” *SUSAN*, late twenties to mid-thirties. Recently blind—is doing her best to survive in a newly dark world. She’s also doing her best to keep a marriage together that may not have the strongest foundation. Endearing but never helpless—an independent spirit whose cleverness is her best weapon in a frightening situation. *ROAT*, thirties to fifties. An unknowable criminal from the underbelly of New York. He keeps everything about himself secret.. An exceptional actor, Roat takes on several roles throughout the story—young suffering husband dealing with a philandering wife, older father of the same cuckolded husband, and the mysterious organizer of this plan to reclaim a strange, yet priceless doll. Roat is at times charming, at other times frightening. A sadist and a control freak, he is a natural leader of lost souls. *LT MIKE TALMAN*, mid 30s to mid 40s. A war friend of Susan’s husband. The kind of man who inspires trust without trying to; dependable and decent. He finds himself helping his friend’s wife and ends up involved in something far more complex and frightening than he anticipated. Or so we think. Really a master con man, he’s the third member of Roat’s gang, bent on reclaiming a doll containing something very valuable and very dangerous. But he’s having a crisis of conscience—he likes Susan and isn’t sure he can follow through with the plan. *CARLINO*, 40s to 50s. He fills a room literally and figuratively—a large man with a large personality. Carlino is recently out of jail and the experience wasn’t great—he’s anxious to get back on his feet and Roat’s plan affords him a chance for some quick cash. Though slightly paranoid and a little brusque, he’s a survivor and good at his job, which is convincing people he’s someone else entirely—a dependable, but overworked member of the New York police force. *GLORIA*, 12-14 (or young-looking 15). Smart beyond her years and lost in that no man’s land of adolescence, somewhere between a girl and a woman. Her home life is tough—dad is long gone and mom isn’t too dependable. She is independent, prone to jealousy, and desperate to be taken seriously by the adult world. Gloria doesn’t shy away from danger (seems to relish the adventure of it actually) and proves she cares a lot more than she lets on. *SAM*, 30s. Susan’s husband. A war veteran who’s a photographer trying to make his way in the world. He’s a survivor and unwilling to entertain thoughts of self-pity, either for himself or Susan. He’s determined that they’ll make it in the world. Busy and on the move, he may see less of what’s happening in front of him than Susan does. *POLICEMEN*-Two policemen come in at the very end of the play. Either male or female, but both policeman should be very trusted characters, self-assured, and reassuring As always, thank you for your patronage!

Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones she has a profound effect upon. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.”

Experienced performers will learn new techniques and gain insight into their work, regardless of artistic discipline. Finally, come see how fun and games can be turned into valuable lessons for everyday life.  About the Instructor: Matthew Dolan is a longtime improvisor, performing regularly for over a decade. He is entering his 8th season as a member of Something Dada, Cleveland’s longest running improvised comedy show, and last year co-founded Just Go With It, a longform improv company based in Akron. When not improvising, Matthew works professionally as a musician and music director. Recent directing credits include Oliver! (Beck Center for the Arts), Triassic Parq (Blank Canvas Theater) and A Christmas Story - The Musical (True North Cultural Arts). Currently, Matthew is a member of the faculty at the Beck Center for the Arts where he teaches courses on singing and has served as the Music Director for the Musical Theater Camp. Matthew earned his Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Akron in 2013. He also serves as the current Director of Music at Peace Lutheran Church.
