Dobama Theatre is looking for African-American actors of all ages to participate in the Marilyn Bianchi Kids' Playwriting Festival for the following plays: A Brother’s Love by Alexander Nash (3rd Grade – Central Primary School – Bedford) , Directed by Melissa Crum. The End of the Moon : A Twisted Story by Desirae Crosby (4th Grade – Warner Girls’ Leadership Academy – Cleveland), Directed by Rocky Encalada Seeking a multi-ethnic cast for the following characters: Mom, Dad, Five Siblings (3 girls, 2 boys) ranging from ages 8 - 15 years old), a News Reporter and The President of the United States. Blooms of Steel is a musical version of a play commissioned by the Lorain County Metro Parks in 2008 about the history of the community that grew around the steel mill in Lorain. The Lorain Historical Society, in partnership with the Lorain Palace and the Lorain County Community College Theater Department, is producing the musical in the spring of 2016. Primary responsibilities include: teaching courses in acting – Stanislavski based for beginning and advanced majors, and non-majors, in an undergraduate BA program, directing 1 show and mentoring students. Additional responsibilities include advising student musical performance group and coaching KCACTF Irene Ryan nominees. Expertise in one or more of the following areas desirable: musical theatre, voice & dialect work, improvisation, Shakespearean performance, movement for the actor. Weathervane Playhouse Call for Actors! 8x10 TheatreFest

Today is the deadline for submissions to the Weathervane Playhouse 10 minute play Contest and Festival. This is Weathervane's Fifth Annual TheatreFest - a celebration of the 10 minute play. This year we received just shy of 200 submissions - the most ever! Next, at the end of May, a panel of Second Round Judges will meet, have readings and choose the 8 Finalist plays that will be presented on TheatreFest Weekend - July 10, 11, and 12. Because we haven't actually chosen the Finalists, we can't provide a list of potential roles. But if you are an actor and want to get involved in a project that requires little in the way of time commitment but offers a tremendously enjoyable creative experience, contact me. When the shows are chosen and we know what roles may be available, directors will be contacting those who could possibly fill those roles. There will be about 6 rehearsals (not including dress rehearsals) from the beginning of June thru till TheatreFest in mid-July. This allows directors to work around conflicts/vacations.
