Keith Stiver. This is a one act comedy with an all-female cast. Auditions will be held on the afternoon of March 3, at the theatre, from 1:00 to 3:00. Readings will be taken from the script. If needed, additional dates will be announced. The play will run simultaneously with The Bartenders, the first three weekends of May 2024. The script describes the play (in part) as follows: Six of the most noted of Shakespeare’s heroines convene at the home of Juliet in Verona. They are, in addition to Juliet, Portia from The Merchant of Venice, Katharine from The Taming of the Shrew, Desdemona from Othello, Ophelia from Hamlet, and Cleopatra from Antony and Cleopatra. Juliet has just fallen in love with Romeo and the other five visit to instruct her in the art of successfully carrying out her romance. The characters: Juliet – aged between 18 and 25. Optimistic, but practical. She is also dubious about the advise she is receiving. Portia – aged 30+. Very “legal” in demeanor. Desdemona – aged 25 - 30. Young and starry-eyed from being “smothered with affection”. Cleopatra – aged 30 - 35. Very much a siren. Ophelia – aged 30+. Mad and dithery. Katharine – aged 40+. Strong and “shrewish”. The director is seeking as diverse a cast as possible. All ethnicities and physical types are encouraged to audition. Hello, As a past Homeless Stand Down Entertainer (or a new friend!) we are reaching out hoping you will take part in this worthwhile event. MOBILE PERFORMERS: Everyone will enter through the main lobby and be waiting in line to enter the hall. Single or small group entertainment that is not overwhelming in sound or visuals would be welcome and set a nice tone for the day. Guests inside the Auditorium may be in line or at tables awaiting various services, resting or enjoying a meal. Your being able to read the crowd and move where needed will be appreciated. STATIONARY PERFORMERS: The floor of the hall will be used for resource agencies needing to converse with guests and for the other services mentioned above. The goal here is to provide an uplifting interval to our guests’ day while they reconnect and enjoy a time of respite. Musical performers and visual acts (jugglers, dancers) in need of a set space and with a moderate volume level will be given space on the main floor, next to the Auditorium Stage. Your performance would be out of the goodness of your heart, as I have no budget, however we expect around 1,000 guests and perhaps as many volunteers so while this is a charity event, it would give your group exposure to a wide audience of possible future clients. Rabbit Run Theater Auditions: “Tuesdays with Morrie”, Mar. 1, 7 – 9:30 pm; Mar. 3, 1 – 2:30 pm “Clue: On Stage”, Mar. 1, 7 – 9:30 pm; Mar. 3, 5:30 – 7 pm MADISON, OH – Auditions for Rabbit Run Theater’s productions of “Tuesdays with Morrie” and “Clue: On Stage” are this weekend. “Tuesdays with Morrie”, is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, a journalist, and his former college professor, Morrie Swartz. Years after graduation and upon learning that Morrie has Lou Gehrig’s disease, Mitch is reunited with his old college profession. What starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life. “Tuesday with Morrie” is written by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom and based on the book by Mitch Albom. Directed by Ann Hedger, the show runs from June 14 through June 28. There are two roles available for men, ages mid-30’s through mid-60’s. Auditions for “Tuesdays with Morrie” are Friday, Mar. 1 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 3 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. “Clue: on Stage”, is based on the screenplay by Jonathan Lynn and is written by Sandy Rustin with additional material by Hunter Foster and Eric Price. It is also based on the Paramount Motion Picture and the Hasbro board game, CLUE. “Clue: On Stage” opens Aug. 2 and runs through Aug. 24 and is rated for general audiences. This production is directed by Bob Kilpatrick. There are multiple female and male roles available for ages 18 and up, and it is rated for general audiences. Auditions for “Clue: On Stage” are Friday, Mar. 1 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 3 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Actors auditioning for a non-musical do not need to prepare a monologue as actors will read sides from the script. Actors should dress business casual (jeans are acceptable, no sweatpants). All auditions are at Rabbit Run Community Arts Association, 49 Park St., Madison, OH. Auditions are by appointment only. CLEVELAND PUBLIC THEATRE IS HIRING SUPPORTING TEACHING ARTISTS FOR THE SUMMER CPT is seeking *temporary, full-time Supporting Teaching Artists for summer CMHA CAN and STEP programming. *We are looking to build a strong core of artists who are dedicated to creating work to empower young voices, excite creativity, and further racial and economic justice. ------------------------------ CMHA CLEVELAND ACT NOW CMHA Cleveland Act Now (CAN) takes place in partnership with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) at community centers for children and families who live in public housing. Under the guidance of CPT Teaching Artists, young artists learn how to create and perform their own plays, dance, poetry, music, and visual art. These multidisciplinary performing arts activities improve academic skills, instill empathy and responsibility, build character, and enhance creative thinking. The students regularly perform at CMHA community centers as well as arts festivals throughout Cleveland. CMHA CAN is offered in four CMHA communities: Lakeview Terrace, Woodhill Homes, Outhwaite Homes, and Riverside Park. STUDENT THEATRE ENRICHMENT PROGRAM (STEP) Celebrating 30 years of empowering artmaking, CPT’s Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP) is an arts-based job training program that engages Cleveland teens in a powerful, 8-week intensive (4 weeks for Tech Team students) that focuses on excellence in performance, play creation, physical theatre, writing, production, and set design/construction. Students aged 14-19, presenting a wide range of performance experience, are eligible for participation and earn money while learning and practicing valuable job skills such as timeliness, communication, commitment, and teamwork. Under the guidance of CPT artists, teens develop an original play and then tour it to public greenspaces, theatres, and community organizations throughout the city of Cleveland. Since its beginning in 1994, STEP has received multiple awards and recognitions, including those from the City of Cleveland, The President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Arts. STEP is the longest-running arts-based, job-training program in Cleveland and has been utilized as an international model for engaging youth. STEP ensembles, comprised primarily of Black and Brown artists, see themselves as a positive and inspirational force and are able to witness their work’s invaluable impact on the larger Cleveland community. Youth are onsite approximately 6 hours a day during creation and work through an adjusted schedule while on tour. ------------------------------ ------------------------------ SKILLS REQUIRED · Experience in at least one theatre-related arts discipline (dance, drumming, singing, acting, creative writing, etc.) · Experience teaching children and/or teenagers · Ability to travel to multiple sites · Demonstrated ability to be or become a strong role model for Cleveland youth · Energy, responsiveness, flexibility, creativity · Attention to detail, ability to work independently · Ability to lead both small and large group activities · Experience in devising theatre practices/performance OR openness to learning new techniques in the creation of original performance material *CMHA CAN SUPPORTING TEACHING ARTIST RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:* · Completing training schedule (June 5th-June 14th, M-F, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm) · Supporting the successfully implementing curriculum for 6 weeks of CMHA CAN programming from June 17th-July 26th (M-TH from 9:00 am-5:00 pm; F from 10:00 am-4:00 pm) at 3 CMHA Community Center. During programming, youth will build storytelling skills (incorporating body and voice) and community. The new Dover Players comedy by an award-winning playwright, Gregory J. Lavelle, will be performed in the North Olmsted Community Cabin the last weekend in April and first weekend in May.
