Please direct questions to the director, Mike Rogan: 440-781-9235 or Achillesmr(a)aol.com SYNOPSIS The fictitious Cornley University Drama Society has received a substantial bequest and is putting on a performance of/The Murder at Haversham Manor/– a 1920s murder mystery play by the fictitious Susie H. K. Brideswell. During the performance, a play within a play, a plethora of disasters befall the cast, including doors sticking, props falling from the walls, and floors collapsing. Cast members are seen misplacing props, forgetting lines, missing cues, breaking character, drinking paint thinner, mispronouncing words, stepping on fingers, being hidden in a grandfather clock, and being manhandled off stage. This cascading comedy of errors is a wild ride for actors and audiences alike! All actors 18+ will be considered. No roles have been pre-cast. Dear Friends, Colleagues, & Patrons, We hope you will join us on January 18 @ 7:30pm for our next Sips & Scripts reading at Modern Methods Brewing in Warren, OH. This month we will be reading "The Baron of Brown Street" by Eric Mansfield. Lenny King, a homeless man living alone in a tent under Akron's Brown Street bridge, becomes an overnight celebrity after a newspaper story details Lenny's kind heart in forgiving three teens who set him on fire and laughed at his pain. Enduring the physical and emotional scars of a man abused by life and his own bad decisions, Lenny must now fend off strangers looking to exploit him for their own publicity, including a quick-buck attorney, photographer, local church members, developers and others. With each new visitor to what had been his quiet oasis, Lenny fights to retain what's left of his privacy and dignity while providing life lessons to those who make ignorant assumptions about the homeless. BorderLight Fringe Festival 2023 Call for Artists<https://www.borderlightcle.org/apply/> (closes Feb. 28) The BorderLight Festival returns in 2023 with our first all-Fringe festival and we invite you to apply before the February 28th deadline! This not-for-profit festival will take place Thursday-Saturday in late July or early August (dates tbc soon!). The festival will feature half local artists, half artists from all over the U.S. BorderLight will provide a venue, box office, marketing support, and fun, free events like an Opening Night Party and a Fringe Awards Ceremony. 70% of box office revenue is returned to artists. And, participating artists can see other shows in the festival for free on a standby basis. The BorderLight Fringe Festival draws thousands of attendees to downtown Cleveland and helps makes in-person theatre accessible to more people. *Auditions* *Failure: A Love Story* A farce by Philip Dawkins Directed by Ron Newell *Audition Dates: *Tues., February 7 and Wed., February 8 at 7:00 pm *Show Dates: * May 12-June 4, 2023 Performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 2pm *Story:* By the end of 1928, all three Fail sisters will be dead — expiring in reverse order, youngest to oldest, from blunt object to the head, disappearance, and finally consumption. Tuneful songs, and a whimsical chorus follow the story of Nelly, Jenny June, and Gerty as they live out their lives above the family clock repair shop. A magical, musical fable where, in the end, the power of love is far greater than any individual’s successes or failures. *Cast: * 3 Women, 2 Men and an additional 3 for Chorus All parts are mid to late twenties, except members of Chorus can be any age. This is a show with music. All cast will play multiple roles which could include clocks, dogs, snakes, and assorted other animals/things. Nelly Fail – the youngest Jenny June Fail – the middlest Gertrude Fail – the eldest John N. Fail – the adopted brother Mortimer Mortimer – the lover (must sing and move well) Chorus – all cast will be in chorus This is a high energy show. Cast members should be physically fit.
