The kids from Young Filmmakers Academy are at it again. These award winning filmmakers are shooting their project all week long at Harding Middle School. We need extras this Thursday and Friday from 9:30am to 2pm to play spectators in a little league game. The film has been written by and is being shot by area kids ages 12-17. It’s a comedy set in the 80s and is going to be very fun, come by and help out the kids. CASTING CALL for student thesis film “CRIMINA HUMANA” This will be a NON-UNION production led by Seniors of Cleveland State University’s School of Film and Media Arts. Actors must be available in October and early November. Actors will be provided copy, credit, and meals according to the length of each shooting day. In-person auditions will be August 5th-7th. Tony (Supporting): (Late 20’s, Male, White) Jeff’s brother. Golden child. Army ranger on deployment. Close relationship with his paranoid and conspiracy obsessed brother. Chadrick Peterson (Featured Extra): (20’s, Male, White) Conspiracy obsessed talking head. Internet personality with meager audience of devout followers. “Tells it how it is”. Salah (Lead): (Late 40’s, Male, Any Ethnicity) Corrupt white collar accountant whose deeds caught up to him and his family. Now under investigation, he devises a way to help his family and circumvent his punishment. Actor must be comfortable with stunts and special FX makeup. Andrea (Supporting Lead): (30’s, Female, Any Ethnicity) Mother and wife to Salah, facing the legal and financial consequences of her husband’s espionage. Her patience runs thin as she takes their kid and stays with her parents. Fitz (Supporting): (60’s, Male, Any ethnicity) Salah’s Lawyer. He’s known Salah all his life and has gotten used to his outbursts. Loyal and means the best, but is hopelessly drowning in paperwork. Peter (Lead): (Early 20’s, Male, Italian) Carefree nephew to Bobby, a notorious mobster. On the night of a family wedding reception, Peter makes an impromptu visit to Bobby’s house and walks in on a dirty secret. Bobby/Kirk (Lead): (Late 40’s, Male, Italian) Older widower with evident mob ties. Quick to anger and rash decisions, which can be dangerous at times. He now works as an upstanding police officer. Actor must be comfortable with stunts and special FX makeup. Janice (Supporting Lead): (40’s, Female, Italian) Peter’s mom. Stubborn, short-tempered, and unfiltered. She acts with tough love for her son who’s late to a family wedding reception. Auditions for “Disaster!” Wednesday, July 27, 7:00 – 10:00PM Thursday, July 28, 7:00 – 10:00PM Auditions will be held by appointment on Wednesday, July 27 from 7:00 PM – 10:00PM and Thursday, July 28 from 7:00PM – 10:00PM. Rehearsals will begin the week of September 11. The show runs November 4 – 19. Reminiscent of 1970s disaster cult films such as *The Poseidon Adventure* and *Airport 1975*, *Disaster!* takes place in 1979 Manhattan during opening night of the Barracuda, the first floating casino and discothèque in New York. The characters gather unaware of impending natural disasters, and the building’s lack of safety measures compounds these catastrophes. This highly-comedic parody was conceptualized and written by Seth Rudetsky (SiriusXM Broadway host) and Jack Plotnick (Film and Television actor). The show will be directed by Tim Anderson, music directed by Ryan Bergeron, and choreographed by Maggie Majercik. Performers of all ethnicities (ages 16 and up) are invited to audition. No Equity contracts are available for this production; all performers participate on a volunteer basis As of November 1st, 2021, the Broadview Heights Spotlights requires all volunteers, actors, and production staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to auditions in order to be involved in any production.
