Egeus (also plays Fairy) All genders. A courtier at Theseus’s court and his master of revels. Philostrate (also plays Puck) All genders. Theseus’s Master of the Revels. The Duke sends him to encourage everybody in Athens to celebrate his wedding and have a festive time during the four days leading up to the ceremony. Hippolyta Queen of the Amazons (Also plays Titania) Female-Identifying. Having been defeated in battle by Theseus, she is now betrothed to him. Lysander Male-identifying. A young man of Athens, of good family and fortune. Demetrius Male-identifying. Not the most admirable of young men. Having wooed Helena and won her heart, he shifts his attentions to Hermia, who will have none of him, but whose father favors him. Hermia Female Identifying. Egeus’s daughter. In love with Lysander, she refuses to marry Demetrius despite the threat of death for her refusal. *Rude Mechanicals/Parks and Recreation Workers* Helena Female Identifying. A young lady of Athens. She was wooed and rejected by Demetrius and remains in love with him. Peter Quince All genders. A carpenter with literary pretensions who organizes some fellow workers into preparing a play he has written to present to Theseus and Hippolyta on their wedding day (in which he presents the Prologue). NickBottom Male Identifying-The weaver, a take-charge sort of person, who wishes to play all the parts he can in Quince’s play. Francis Flute ( also plays Cobweb) All genders. A bellows-mender, a young person whose facial hair is only just beginning to grow. Tom Snout ( also plays Peaseblossom) All genders. A tinker cast as Pyramus’s father and the Wall in Quince’s play. Snug ( Also plays 2nd Fairy and Moth) All Genders. The joiner is not the most quick-witted of fellows, and is therefore cast as the lion to avoid his having to learn lines. Robin Starveling (Also plays Mustard Seed) All Genders- This tailor portrays Moonshine in Quince’s play. *The Fairies* Oberon King of Fairies. Male-Identifying- Proud, angry, and vengeful, he quarrels with Titania for the sake of a changeling boy, and on being refused decides to humiliate her into obedience. Titania Queen of Fairies. Female- Identifying. Sensual, earthy and powerful. Her quarrel with Oberon disturbs nature, but she still refuses to give up the boy who is at the quarrel’s root. Puck All Genders. Also known as Robin Goodfellow, is an amoral prankster of a spirit. Oberon’s jester, it delights in practical jokes, transforming Bottom for a lark and making him the object of Titania’s love. If you teach high school students who play a musical instrument The Akron All-City Musical is looking for talented high school age pit orchestra musicians for the upcoming “Peter Pan” show at the Akron Civic Theatre! Here is the announcement. Please spread the word! The Akron All City Musical is inviting High School music students to audition for the Pit Orchestra for this year's production of "Peter Pan." If you are interested, please fill out the GOOGLE form and also submit a sample of your performance abilities. This must be a live, unedited video. Perform an A major two octave scale in quarter notes, an Eb Major scale two octaves, and a chromatic two octave scale starting on C. Also, submit a one minute etude, song, or solo of your choice. It does not need to be accompanied. Turn in your materials by April 13. The Akron Civic Theatre All City Musical is offering advanced high school instrumentalists an opprotunity to receive a Fellowship letter to be a part of the orchestra for the musical “Peter Pan.” You can use this on your resume for college. You must be available to rehearse on Sunday evenings in May starting May 8. You also must be available during the first two weeks of June in the evening to rehearse at the Civic Theatre with the cast. You of course must be available to perform the shows on June 17 and 18(2). Williams Directed by Luther Pete Robinson Production Info – Presented as part of Playwrights Local's upcoming short play festival. – Performance Dates: May 13 & 14, 2022, at 7:30 pm. – Rehearsals: Handful of rehearsals beginning mid-late April – Workshop-style production, off-book. – Compensation will be a modest stipend. What to Prepare Pages from the script will be provided by email. Open Roles CLARENCE JAMISON (45-65, Black/African American): Former Tuskegee Airman and Lieutenant colonel, thin with a raspy voice. ROY RICHARDSON (45-65, Black/African American): Former Tuskegee Airman, energetic. Synopsis Based on interviews with three Cleveland local Tuskegee Airmen, the late Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Clarence Jamison, the late Master Sergeant (MSG) Thomas Austin, and Corporal (CPL) Roy Richardson, as they point out black achievements in the U.S. Armed Services. Those achievements are labeled as hurrahs. The first hurrah was when racists believed black people were incapable of learning. The Tuskegee Airmen not only learned how to fly, but their superior flying techniques won them eight Distinguished Unit Citations. Racists also believed blacks should be kept separate from white society. Tuskegee Airmen refused to accept discrimination and their actions at Freeman Field resulted in President Truman signing an Executive Order to integrate the U.S. armed services. Hurrah! In 1941, they won the first Top Gun Gunnery Competition and, after years of not being given credit, they finally provided proof, the last hurrah. Beck Center for the Arts Brings Back That Razzle Dazzle With Unpause & Rewind 2022 Lakewood, OH-Beck Center for the Arts' Creative Arts Therapies Department<https://www.beckcenter.org/education/creative-arts-therapies> is pleased to present an original theatrical production with music, Razzle Dazzle: Unpause & Rewind, to be performed live on April 29 and April 30, 2022. The cast consists of adults with disabilities and community volunteers, many of whom have been part of numerous Razzle Dazzle productions over the last 20 years. Many hours of rehearsal come together in an adapted arts musical theater production that culminates on April 29, and in two April 30 performances at Beck Center's Lakewood campus. This production will have you taking the time to simply pause, then rewind to a simpler time. These 34 performers will take the stage to razzle and dazzle all your senses, and warm your heart. Ed Gallagher, Director of Education, states, "Razzle Dazzle is what we are all about at Beck Center! The stage is where cast members of all abilities create a colorful work that engages and entertains. This anniversary production highlights a dazzling cast that is ready to entertain with their talents and abilities." Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday April 29, and 4:00 pm, and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday April 30, 2022. Any attendees will be learning a small dance combo to a selected song. They will be working using their bodies as a way to express what is going on in the song without words. Students will learn how to use their faces and bodies to communicate. They will learn how to create a character of their own design to correlate with the song.
