The Young Filmmakers Academy Summer Filmmaking Workshop is a multi-faceted experience in which the students write, produce and edit a real film from start to finish with the help of award winning industry professionals and mentors. Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) produces groundbreaking performances and life-changing educational programs to raise consciousness and nurture compassion. CPT seeks a CAN Academy Intern interested in joining its hard-working team with the ambitious goals of growing the organization and changing the community. DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The CAN Academy Intern works closely with and reports directly to the CAN Academy Lead Teaching Artist and Site Coordinator during summer programming. This position is a seasonal position. The successful candidate will be collaborative, supportive of the CAN Academy Lead Teachers, flexible, eager to learn, excited to work with young artists, high energy and a positive attitude, and performance experience in classroom settings. Candidates must have the creativity and heart to create warm, exciting, empowering community experiences for our programs’ participants and families. RESPONSIBILITIES The CAN Academy Intern will assist in the coordination and general support for CAN Academy’s 2022 summer programming. Duties will include: - Mentoring students through scene creation and production process - Arranging snacks for students - Prepping and coordinating materials needed for the day - Modeling positively contributing participation in the room Strong organizational skills and an interest in working with youth ages 7-14 are imperative, along with a commitment to promoting anti-racism and diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. CPT’S EDUCATION PROGRAM: Cleveland Act Now (CAN) Academy CAN Academy is a free performing arts program for younger teens and youth from Cleveland and surrounding neighborhoods, held on-site at Cleveland Public Theatre. SEEKING SOUND DESIGNER & ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER FOR SHORT PLAY FEST MAY 2022 Playwrights Local www.playwrightslocal.org Playwrights Local seeks a Sound Designer and an Assistant Stage Manager for a short play festival in May 2022. The festival runs May 13 & 14 with performances at 7:30 pm. This will be a condensed rehearsal and tech process focused on the week preceding the festival and extending back to individual rehearsals beginning May 1. The festival will consist of seven 10-minute plays produced on a workshop level, off-book with limited props and costumes, limited lighting design, and a manageable amount of essential sound cues. Both positions are paid on the non-union scale. This classic jazz age musical follows the lives of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly through vaudeville inspired numbers including “All That Jazz”, “The Cell Block Tango”, and “Razzle Dazzle.” Experience these classic numbers like never before with the ONSTAGE orchestra! The show will feature seniors Darby Wilson as Velma Kelly, Kathryn Palmieri as Matron "Mama" Morton, Carl Rössler as Billy Flynn, Megan Archer as Liz, Katie Heckroth as June, Emma Archer as Hunyak and Reggie Shaffer as Fred Casley. Juniors Kate Pawlowski as Roxie Hart, Lindsey Tima as Annie, Elyse Tremmel as Mona and Anthony Yuhos as The Reporter. Sophomores Lindsey Ross as Mary Sunshine, Jason Dement as Amos Hart, Madison Davidson as “Go to Hell” Kitty, and Joshua Jacob as Fogarty. CHICAGO (Teen Edition) is directed by Kent State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance Faculty, Bob Russell and musically directed by Jacob Moore, Sound Mentor is Carlton Guc of Off-Axis Sound with assistance from junior Sound Lead, Maria Landess; Lighting Mentor is Hoover High School Drama Director Bruce Nist Jr. with assistance from Lighting Lead and Board Op Hayden Bourett; Costume Mentor is University of Mount Union’s Professor of Costume Design Sarah Russell with assistance from Wardrobe Lead sophomore Sam Farabee alongside assistant wardrobe leads senior Elliot Aszkler and junior Jacqueline Kloss.
