*The Dark Room at CPT Tuesday, October 13th * *This month: Bring your best Halloween/autumn inspired work! * The Dark Room is a place where writers take center stage and their work has a chance to grow. The Dark Room is an ongoing event held on the second Tuesday of each month. The Dark Room affords emerging and veteran playwrights the space and resources to develop new works. It offers a venue to workshop plays, novels, poems, or any other written work in a supportive, yet critical environment. *Tuesday, October 13th* Parish Hall at CPT (Just east of the Gordon Square Theatre Box Office) Cleveland Public Theatre 6407 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, OH 44102 *7:00pm: *Sign-up begins for writers and actors (space is limited). Writers names will be drawn randomly at 7:15pm to determine whose work will be presented. Writers can bring up to 10 pages of work to be read; actors will be cast on the spot! This month, please try to bring work inspired by Halloween or autumn - your creepiest, weirdest, darkest pieces! *7:30pm:* Open Mic Session readings begin *And don't forget - FREE Great Lakes Beer!* Suggested donation of $5 is welcomed at the door, but not required. Writers wishing to present during the open session portion of Dark Room may submit shorter works, up to ten pages, in advance of the event or bring them on the night of the event. Open session readings are first come, first serve until all slots have been allotted. He wears his fame easily and is a born leader, but has some trouble with social and romantic interactions. Despite his occasional gruffness, he is a deeply kind and principled man who is searching for his true love. This role was portrayed by Bing Crosby in the film. A superb singer with a crooning style who moves very well. Baritone, sings “White Christmas” · *PHIL DAVIS* - (late 20's to mid 30's) The fun-loving, go-getting song-and-dance partner of the team of Wallace and Davis. An irrepressible clown, operator and incorrigible ladies' man who is determined to see his friend happy, even if it requires scheming and outright deception. He has a boyish charm and sex appeal. The suspenseful play opens the new season at the River Street Playhouse, with six performances at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays Oct. 16-31. The River Street is CVLT's smaller, 65-seat venue, playing host to more intimate and unusual material than the 262-seat Main Stage next door. SCOTLAND ROAD's improbable tale is a delicious game of cat-and-mouse where no one is what they seem. Set in the 1990s, the mystery swirls around Winifred (Talia Valline), a beautiful young woman found floating on an iceberg in the middle of the North Atlantic wearing 19th century clothing. When rescued, the girl says just one word: "Titanic." Could she somehow be a survivor of the doomed ship, untouched by decades of time? An expert on the ship's sinking, played by Vince Sarowatz, tries to get her to reveal her true identity, assisted in his endeavors by Dr. Halbrech (Claudia Lillibridge). The reclusive last known living survivor of the shipwreck, Ms. Kittle (Linda Ryan), is also brought into the mix. "With the many plot twists and turns, working on SCOTLAND ROAD has been a thrilling ride," said the show's director Laurel Bryant. "Delving into each character led my cast and crew into profound discussions on the complex nature of the human spirit. Each of us holds a secret identity that we fear will be discovered, but by revealing our secrets, we find we all share a common bond." The play is produced by Kourtney Daugherty, with John Hickman and Marissa Gelender managing the stage and technical aspects. SCOTLAND ROAD was the 1993 winner of the Lois and Richard Rosenthal annual New Play Prize. Hatcher's inspiration for the story came from a tabloid headline: "Titanic Survivor Found on Iceberg," along with a biography of William Godwin, who had tried to interview an alleged 200-year-old defrosted ice man, only to find it a hoax. CVLT's River Street Playhouse is located at 56 River St., west of the main CVLT building in Chagrin Falls. All seats are $12. This is not your typical volunteer experience. You will work in teams on a scavenger hunt to get people to write haiku with you. Yes.
