JOB LISTING: Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood, Ohio, seeks a Scene Shop Carpenter/Technical Assistant. This position is a full-time salaried position with benefits. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Technical Director (TD), the Scene Shop Carpenter/Technical Assistant is responsible for assisting in the construction and implementation of the scenic designs for all Main Stage, Studio and Children's Theater productions that the Scene Shop services. The Scene Shop Carpenter/Technical assistant is integral in the proper maintenance of the shop and support spaces, and should show the ability to complete assigned tasks and duties without direct supervision. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, construction and implementation of scenic designs using theatrical set construction techniques, ability to be on-call during performance weekends as needed, as well as a strong ability to work in tandem with the TD and complete assigned tasks on time. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Physical ability to lift 75 pounds. 2. Demonstrated knowledge of theatrical sheet goods and materials including, but not limited to, plywood, luan, OSB, MDF, Masonite (hardboard), and acrylic sheeting. 3. Demonstrated knowledge of theatrical construction techniques. 4. Ability to follow through on completion of projects within determined deadlines. 5. Problem solving skills/Critical thinking. 6. Demonstrated knowledge of general safety regulations and rules. 7. Some flexibility in work schedule. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 2-3 Years of experience in the field preferred. 2. Basic knowledge of theatrical lighting equipment preferred. CITY BALLET OF CLEVELAND PRESENTS A SUGARPLUM FAIRY TEA

The City Ballet of Cleveland will host its annual benefit, The Sugarplum Fairy Tea, on Saturday, November 21st from 2:00pm-4:00pm to support its upcoming Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker performances. The City Ballet of Cleveland is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, whose mission is to establish a ballet company of the highest artistic caliber that serves its communities through performance and education. Last year’s event was such a huge success that we decided to move to a larger location to accommodate more families. This year’s holiday event will be held at the Acacia Reservation in Beachwood. Families will have an opportunity to take pictures with the Sugarplum Fairy, decorate their own crown or edible wand, complete other fun crafts, have a special reading of The Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker and enjoy a bountiful dessert buffet. In addition, members of the company will perform at 3:00 pm. Stow Players is holding a Volunteer Organizational Gathering on Sunday, October 25, at 2:00 at the Heritage Barn, 5328 Young Rd, the back entrance to Silver Springs Park in Stow. The Players are looking for anyone interested in the various areas of involvement in community theatre. Onstage: acting, directing, musicians, singing; Offstage: lights, sound, costumes, stage managing; Organizational: play reading, box office/refreshments, cast and club parties, board membership, fundraising. Stow Players officers, board members, directors, and members will be on hand to explain all the duties and to answer questions. The meeting will last one hour.

*Olmsted Performing Arts is excited to start their unique 25 week class for the youngest actors! You can register your child at the link below!* http://www.olmstedperformingarts.com/theater-classes-fall-catalogue/ About the Class! **25 week-long class starting November 9** This 1 hour, 15 minute weekly class is for our youngest actors ages 4-10. During each class, the students will learn performance skills in a fun and educational way while also rehearsing for an exciting musical! At the end of the session, the students will put on a show for an audience to get them accustomed to being on stage! Each class registration includes an exclusive t-shirt (to be worn during the performance) and 2 tickets to the show; additional tickets can be purchased on the day of the performance. All seating for the performance is general admission. *Tuition is based on 25 weeks of classes which run from Monday, November 9th through Monday, May 16th; the final performance is on Monday, May 23rd.* Watch your little star shine on stage!
