This timeless musical will be presented in the beautiful Medina Performing Arts Center July 17, 18, 23, 24 & 25 at 8 PM and July 19 & 26 at 2 PM. Auditions for *West Side Story *will take place Monday, May 18 from 5-9 PM and Tuesday, May 19 from 5-9 PM. Auditions will be held at the Garfield North Arts Complex (formerly the Grace Drake Center for the Arts), 222 S Broadway, Medina, Ohio. Callbacks will be Wednesday, May 20 from 6-9 PM. Callbacks will be held at the Medina Performing Arts Center, 851 Weymouth Rd, Medina Ohio. Please note: Auditions will be held in a separate location than callbacks, rehearsals, and performances. Prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre piece in the style of the show. Prepare a monologue of your choice, approximately 2 minutes in length. Please bring your resume, headshot, and music clearly marked, as an accompanist will be provided. A cappella auditions are discouraged. No CDs/iPods will be permitted for accompaniment. You will not be asked to dance at the audition. However, a dance audition will be part of the callback process. Rehearsals begin for *West Side Story* on Monday, June 8. All rehearsals will take place at the Medina Performing Arts Center. Rehearsals are generally scheduled Sundays-Thursdays from 7-10PM. Company members will be called as needed, and therefore may not be required to attend every rehearsal. Please bring a complete list of rehearsal conflicts at the time of auditions. The collection of stories by the Grimm brothers and folktales from around the world were a way for families and friends from an earlier time to both entertain and teach. Bring the family! Great Lakes Theater Announces Auditions for Actor-Teachers Great Lakes Theater (GLT) announces auditions for non-Equity actor-teachers for its School Residency Program for the 2015-2016 school year. Actors of all cultural backgrounds are encouraged to audition. These are full-time, seasonal, paid positions, offered from August/September, 2015 through May, 2016. Requirements include an undergraduate degree in any discipline, as well as previous stage experience or actor training. Teaching experience or prior work with elementary, junior high or high school age students is a plus, but not required. Applicants must have a valid driver license, a reliable automobile and complete a background check. Applicants are requested to prepare one Shakespearean monologue and one contrasting contemporary monologue for the audition. Both monologues should total no more than three minutes combined. All auditions are by appointment only. Applicants must schedule an audition online. Great Lakes Theater Launches CAMP THEATER! A Summer Theater Camp for Students Ages 4-18. CLEVELAND, OH - Great Lakes Theater will present CAMP THEATER! a summer drama camp held at Berea-Midpark High School for students ages 4-18. Students can sign up for one or both weeks of camp, which will run June 8-12, and June 15 19, 2015. Immersing students in interactive and educational theater-based activities, CAMP THEATER! is a unique opportunity for students to work with and learn from Great Lakes Theaters professional teaching artists in a fun, safe and supportive environment. Daily classes will be held at Berea-Midpark High School in one-week sessions from Monday through Friday. Students may enroll in one or both week-long sessions as different material will be covered each week. The program is designed for students of all levels of experience and ability.
