Theater Ninjas is holding auditions for Tall Skinny Cruel Cruel Boys by Caroline V. McGraw, directed by Artistic Director Jeremy Paul. Tall Skinny Cruel Cruel Boys will run October 22-November 7, with rehearsals beginning in mid-September. Brandy is a children’s entertainer with some serious demons in her personal life, not to mention the red-clawed monster that lives under her bed. She moves through life like a car crash, bringing illicit lovers, strange little girls and other broken friends along for the ride. Written by Cleveland native and Kilroy’s nominated playwright Caroline V. McGraw, Tall Skinny Cruel Cruel Boys is a bold dark comedy about self-destruction, honesty and finding what you really need. Audition dates: July 11: 12:00 or 1:00 July 12: 12:00 or 1:00 Auditions will be held in a group in 45 minute increments. Please be prepared to stay the entire time. Nancy Drew is back! This July, the Dover Players community theater group presents Nancy Drew and the Gold Bug Treasure, written and adapted by Todd Evangelista and Madchen Hirsch and directed by Todd Evangelista. Nancy Drew and the Gold Bug Treasure An old miser named Hawthorne was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's short story "The Gold Bug" to ask Poe to hide his fortune from his greedy sons so that only the wisest would inherit his wealth. Shortly before his death, Poe delivered a coded letter to each of the four sons, but their greed kept the family members from working together to find the treasure for 100 years. Now in 1950, Professor Kelly has found the missing Emerson Letter and gathered the family members who have the other three letters to try to find the treasure. However, someone has stolen the Emerson letter from the professor, and it is up to Nancy Drew to find the lost letter and recover the hidden Gold Bug Treasure. During intermission, audience members will have a chance to answer the following questions based on clues provided in the program insert: Who stole the professor's letter? and, How did you figure it out?. Weathervane Playhouse Names Finalists in 10 Minute Play Contest

WEATHERVANE PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES 8 FINALIST PLAYS FOR 8X10 THEATREFEST Forensics Investigators take on a puzzling murder case which quickly spirals out of control and leads to one, unbelievable conclusion. A longtime, unhappily married husband and wife are obliged to play The Happy Couple when meeting their daughter's future in-laws. A young man has to face his fears when sheltered in a basement during a tornado with his slightly oddball neighbors. These are the scenarios of three of the eight plays which will be presented at Weathervane Playhouse on July 10, 11, 12 at the Fifth Annual 8x10 TheatreFest. All the plays have two things in common - each is 10 minutes long and all feature a hand mirror as a prop. The mirror served as the "inspiration" for this year's contest. Over 230 plays were submitted to the Weathervane contest and volunteer judges read and chose these as the top plays. All Finalist playwrights receive at least a $50 prize, and the top three - as determined by audience vote, will receive $150, $250, and $350. Audiences will also choose the special prop "inspiration" for next year's competition. "So far, six of the playwrights are traveling to Weathervane to see their plays come to life," says 8x10 Coordinator, Eileen Moushey. "And that's part of our excitement, too. Plus, it's great fun for the audiences to be able to choose the winners!" Performances of the eight plays are 8pm on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11. Sunday's performance is a matinee at 2:30pm, followed by a reception and announcement of the winners. Tickets are $10.
