Auditions are being held for the annual Liverpool Historical Spirit Walk (in partnership with Liverpool Historical Society and Buckeye Community Theatre) on Saturday July 18th, 2015 starting at 5:00 PM. We are looking for 11 adults (5 males, 5 females, 1 could be either male or female) and 2 teens (1 boy and 1 girl) Roles Offered: 1. John Dye: A Civil War Solider. Male. Age 20-40 2. Roy Britnall: A doctor who died in a hospital fire. Male. Age 40-50. 3. Edith Brintnall: Roy's mother. Female. Age: 70-80. 4. Justus Warner: An elderly Liverpool Judge. Male. Age 70-90. (Slightly deaf) 5. Rhoda Warner: Justus Warner's niece who takes care of him. Female. Age 20-25. 6. Fredrick Kimmich: A Union Solider that spent time in the Andersonville Prison during the Civil War. con-con's apocalyptic comedy 'The Train Play' lacks a third rail Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal Member, International Association of Theatre Critics Have you ever taken public transportation and found yourself captivated but then held captive by a talkative stranger in the seat next to you? Such is the case with Liz Duffy Adams' 90-minute apocalyptic comedy "The Reckless Ruthless Brutal Charge of It, or The Train Play," which is currently on stage at convergence-continuum. At first, the eight talkative strangers on a mysterious train to places unknown are intriguing. They include a 12-year-old comic book heroine with the power to halt time (Taylor Tucker), a bored mythological Earth Goddess (Marcia Mandell), a discombobulated physicist (Lauren B. Smith), God's much-abused messenger Gabriel (Cody Zak), a disenchanted world traveler (Tim Cole), and three musical Russian brothers (Robert Branch, Beau Reinker, Jack Matuszewski) with a balalaika in tow. Each colorful character direct-addresses the audience to tell us who they are and from what they are trying to escape. The writing is clever, comedic and sets us up for a wonderfully absurd journey where all the world's a metaphor. But as this train car loaded with chatty monologists heads toward its final destination, this play seems to stall, idle and go nowhere. Missing is a literary third rail - that slightly elevated element that provides power, momentum and meaning to the work and helps guide its direction. About the Summer Theatre CAMPs “Children are at their most creative when they are invited to see the world as their own giant playground." This is the philosophy of Wandering Aesthetics’ Storyteller and Education Director, Kyle Jozsa. He gives children the opportunity to create and tell their stories in a fun and safe environment. Jozsa will introduce the students to important theatrical concepts including stage presence, character creation and teamwork. Together, using basic fairytale story structure, Jozsa and his classes will create and present their own story. Each two-week long summer camp will introduce students to the basics of live performance. In the morning, in his engaging style, Jozsa will teach students the fundamentals of theatre. In the afternoon, students will collaborate to craft a fairy tale of their choosing in an atmosphere of cooperation and playfulness, culminating in a final performance for friends and family. Students should bring a brown bag lunch. About the Instructor: Drawing on a work ethic derived from his path to Eagle Scout, Kyle Jozsa co-founded the physically oriented theatre company, Wandering Aesthetics. Kyle serves as Wandering Aesthetics’ Co-Artistic Director, Education Director and primary Storyteller. His responsibilities include: shaping the vision of the company, devising and performing new pieces of theatre and designing, implementing and teaching curricula. Kyle participated in an intensive summer training program at Double Edge Theatre in Asheville, MA. He recently made the transition to solo performer with Wandering Aesthetics’ “Mountain Cycle” – a series of 3 one-man performances about his hike of the 2,186-mile Appalachian Trail. Kyle has been teaching children ages 2 - 14 for the past 5 years; they constantly inspire him.
