A packed house at Musica, fantastic bands and solo artists, a lovely reading by author Gilly, lots of giveaways, charming karaoke and you - throwing your electric energy throughout the room, dancing like banshees and demanding Vanity Crash do 3 encore songs. We love you Akron!!! - Now for this coming weekend: A Crash Course For The Ravers... Dear friends, Many of you attended last January's presentations on David Bowie that we hosted at the BOP STOP. And many of you were unable to attend as four separate shows sold out quickly. This January 2017, we're mounting An Evening With(out) David Bowie, and we've posted a page specifically for folks like you: http://www.BowieShows.com I wanted to send a reminder that we have revised the show and expanded it into two parts. On Fri 1/13 at 7:30PM, we present Early Bowie (through Young Americans), then at 9:30PM it's Mid- to Late-Bowie (Station to Station through Blackstar ★ and beyond). http://www.themusicsettlement.org/calendar/2017/01/13/an-evening-without-da… The same two parts are repeated the next night, Sat 1/14. Most folks are coming to both Part 1 and Part 2 and staying all night either Fri or Sat. http://www.themusicsettlement.org/calendar/2017/01/14/an-evening-without-da… As before, Cleveland's premiere glam punk superstars Vanity Crash will hit the stage after each section to bring a cathartic jolt with newly prepared Bowie classics, along with a few of their stellar originals. If you attended last year, you should know that the show has been completely re-designed and DOUBLED in size! So much material has surfaced during 2016 since the artist's passing: unseen videos and photos, new details and factoids, re-mastered and cleaned up audio and video, and rare outtakes. We'll have a lot more time to play clips and songs that we had to breeze through before. Full bar and kitchen service will be provided by the BOP STOP, and all proceeds from the food & bev will go towards supporting their mission to educate Cleveland area youth through the age of 18 with music instruction, music therapy, and preschool, day school, and kindergarten. As you may know, TMS will be opening a new West Side campus at the corner of W. 25th & Detroit, a couple blocks from BOP STOP. And you may be aware that SPACES will have their grand opening right next door to BOP STOP on Sat 1/14, and many of their opening night revelers will be joining us at 11:30PM that night for a hot Bowie Video Dance Party. Sandstone Summer Theatre of Amherst, Ohio is looking to hire a Technical Director for the youth summer theatre production of Dorothy in Wonderland. The person will work under the direction and leadership of Monica Olejko, Director. Rehearsals are from June 19th – July 20th with performances on July 21 and 22nd. Hours are from 10 – 1 every day during that period. The production will be performed in the high school cafetorium with rehearsals and set building done in the Junior High School. What a great way to start 2017 but with a classical piano recital? St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church in Parma Ohio will be hosting Pianist Jerome De Los Santos on Sunday Jan. 29th at 5:00 p.m. in the church. Jerome, a graduate of The Cleveland Institute of Music, will be performing works by: Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, Prokofiev, Chopin and Rachmaninoff! This is one of the last chances to hear Jerome before he leaves Cleveland in the spring to pursue his Master's degree in piano performance. The concert is free, and refreshments will be served afterwards. A free will offering will be made to help fund Jerome's expenses in preparing for graduate school auditions/music ministry of St. Columbkille. CPT is now Requesting Proposals for the 17/18 Season

Dear Northeast Ohio artists, CPT is planning the 2017-2018 Season, and once again we are reaching out to you for great ideas. CPT is focused on new work that is surprising, unexpected and somehow outside the realm of conventional theatre. CPT is looking for proposals from Northeast Ohio artists for complete projects. Proposals may be for world premieres, second or third US productions, radical re-envisionings of classic plays or other projects. The show could be your own show or a script you would like to work on. Based on the success of past co-productions and our New Play Development series, we are also interested in creating opportunities for artists and groups that would like to retain greater ownership of projects and who can share risk with CPT. Before sending a proposal: * Take time to look at CPT's recent seasons-these are excellent examples of our programming choices. Click Here for the Season Archive<http://www.cptonline.org/performances/seasons/>. * Get a sense of CPT's aesthetic and artistic sensibility-if you haven't seen a lot of shows at CPT, talk to people who have. * CPT has a culture of doing a lot with a little and production budgets are modest. Keep in mind CPT's financial limitations. * If this is a new/original project, think through its current state of development-is it still in early development or at the right moment for full production? Submitting a Proposal Proposals of complete projects should be 1-3 pages long, not including script or work samples, and must include: * a one page summary of the project: including why this project fits CPT's mission and why it's important to you as an artist * your sense of what state the project is currently in and a general plan to bring it to completion * a resume for all primary artists involved * additional materials that will help us get a sense of the project: copy of proposed script, sample of past work, video, etc. please mention if you are interested in co-producing options Deadline for proposals is January 30th, 2017. If you are submitting an idea for a play that is already written by an outside artist, please keep in mind that others may be proposing the same script (for example, suggesting a script does not mean you have dibs on doing it at CPT). Please be aware that CPT does not comment on why proposals are not selected. We occasionally make subjective artistic suggestions related to a project if we are asked to give feedback.
