Beck Center for the Arts Youth Theater, one of the oldest continuously running Youth Theaters in the country, is holding auditions on January 8 & 9, 2017 for the third production of our 68th Anniversary Season: CARRIE the musical Music by Michael Gore, Lyrics by Dean Pitchford Book by Lawrence D. Cohen Based on the novel by Stephen King Direction by Jonathan Kronenberger Musical Direction by Larry Goodpaster Choreography by Katie Zarecki The Story: Carrie White is a misfit. At school, she is an outcast who is bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she's at the mercy of her loving, but cruelly over-protective mother. But Carrie's just discovered she's got a special power, and if pushed too far, she's not afraid to use it ... Youth Performing Arts Camp - THIS WEEKEND! (Register Now)

Brush High School's Vocal Music Department is very proud to host "Camp S.T.A.R.D.O.M." on Saturday January 7th, 2017 from 9:00am-3:00pm (Each Camper will select a two hour session to attend.) At Camp, students ranging from Kindergarten though 8th Grade will team up with BHS Choir members for a day of performing arts workshops. The following weekend, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 6:00pm, all campers will perform live onstage at the 2017 Brush Choral Festival featuring show choirs, acapella, jazz and traditional choral ensembles from around Northeast Ohio. On Camp Day, students will be split into groups based upon their current grade. All campers will work get the opportunity to work with New York teaching artist, Gabriella Mack, of the Tony Award winning "Rosie's Theater Kids," Sara Ballou, Director of Brush Choirs and Assistant Music Director for Cleveland's "Singing Angels," as well as other local artists. Beck Center Announces New Drama as Replacement Show

Due to unforeseen circumstances Beck Center will not be presenting Ronald Harwood's "*The* *Dresser *" as previously announced. The drama, which was to have starred Thomas Q. Fulton and Andrew May, and directed by Beck Center Artistic Director Scott Spence, will still be considered for future production. Replacing "*The Dresser* " will be the regional premiere of Samuel Hunter's acclaimed "*A Great* *Wilderness*" which centers around a gay conversion therapy camp in the remote Idaho woods. The drama features 3 women, 2 men, and one teenage male. Production dates will remain the same (March 3rd through April 9th, 2017). Scott Spence will direct. The play tracks its subject from run-ins with Marcel Duchamp in the 1910s to Ernest Hemingway in the 1930s, from crises with wife Elsie to reconciliations with daughter Holly, and from his beloved Pennsylvania countryside to his exotic refuge of Key West. Through a series of linked vignettes, it reveals the real Wallace Stevens to be a man of great insight, contradictions, whimsy, and desire. Things as They Are was written by David Todd, and includes excerpts from Wallace Stevens’ original work by arrangement with Alfred A. Knopf. Directed by Anjanette Hall, this world premiere features an original score composed and performed by Ben Chasny, the creative figure behind the celebrated group Six Organs of Admittance. ABOUT THE COMPANY Playwrights Local is a theater company based in Cleveland. Billed as a playwrights’ center, the organization’s goal is to provide a home for dramatic writing in Northeast Ohio.
