>From Dover Players Community Theater: Actors and actresses needed for roles in The High Road, a new drama by an award-winning local playwright, Gregory J. Lavelle. MINIMUM CAST REQUIREMENTS 7 Caucasian males, 2 Caucasian females, 3 African-American males, 1 African-American female, 1 African-American male child. Additional casting note: Any number of African-Americans can participate in the slave house scene and any number of African-American children can participate in the school scene. SYNOPSIS: The High Road is set in the parlor of a mansion on a cotton plantation in Alabama in February of 1860, the year before the start of the Civil War. James Forsythe, age twenty-five, has just returned from studying in the North after the sudden death of his mother. When informed that his father is dying and that he must take over the plantation, he forces a moral dilemma. He has come to believe that slavery is wrong and determines to free his slaves. He soon realizes that the slaves are held down more by their lack of education that their physical chains. James determines to take the high road to lead them to freedom. Madagascar the Musical Accepting K and 1st Graders

Hello NEOhioPAL Parents!! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week!! As a reminder, we are still accepting kindergarten and 1st grade students to be a part of our Penguin Crew in Madagascar the Musical. Rehearsals begin January 6 and would be an hour on Sundays and an hour on Mondays. Your child would be able to participate in three shows. I have included full details below. If you would like to join us for this fun show (and we hope you will), please email me by January 3 to confirm, including which cast you would prefer. The participation fee for this show is $70 for member and $120 for community. Please email with any questions! Thanks, Rachel Full details: For our upcoming show, Playmakers is doing something new!! We are opening up our traditional 2nd-9th grade show to kids in kindergarten and 1st grade!! We will not hold auditions for this age group, as we know that can be a little intimidating for a first show!! Instead, we are offering the opportunity to join one of the casts (A or B, based on scheduling) as a Penguin in Madagascar the Musical and get the experience of being on stage with their friends (and make some new ones). Being a part of a show like this helps kids boost their self-confidence, meet new kids, and work as a team to create one awesome piece of theatre! For this age group, we will have a modified rehearsal schedule. Additionally, for those of you with kids already involved with Playmakers, please be aware that for Madagascar we will only have THREE performances per weekend (Thursday, Saturday, Sunday 2pm). We will not have the Sunday 7pm show. This show has a runtime of approximately 60 minutes with no intermission. We will have a dedicated Assistant Director for the K and 1st grade group, so that they will feel comfortable and guided through the process beyond what we normally provide through other Assistant Directors, Musical Director, Choreographer, and me. Please see below for details and let me know if you have any questions. If your child would have to miss some rehearsals, that is ok! We will get them caught up so that everyone feels confident to go on stage when the show comes! To register, please email me with your child’s name and which cast he/she will be joining. We will hold a parent meeting with all information on Sunday January 6, 2019. Rehearsals for this group will be held together. They will split into casts for tech week and shows. Rehearsals: Sundays 2:30-3:30pm, Mondays 5-6pm Cast A Tech Week (approx. 1-1.5 hours/night. Actor Factory Ohio has scheduled it's SPRING ACTING CAMP for kids (8-11) and SPRING ACTING CAMP for young teens (12-14) and SPRING ACTING CAMP for teens (15-17). The camp will run from April 7, 2018 until May 26, 2018. SPRING ACTING CAMP is run by professional actors and we will expose your new or experienced young actor to ACTING with a balance of creative fun and a bit of seriousness to prep them for the real world of acting if they want to start young to pursue it as a career. What? Get Hep Swing presents - A Holiday Swing dance with three of your favorite DJs. When? Saturday, December 29th, 2018 Where? The Lithuanian Club, 877 E. 185th Street. The ballroom is on the second floor. Dance lessons? Yes. Please join us for an all levels Jitterbug lesson from 8-9. This month's instructors are Loreto Agdinaoay and Rachel Itsell. Is there a DJ or a band? This month three of your favorite DJs will provide the music for your Jitterbug, Lindy, Balboa, Charleston, Blues, Collegiate Shag, St. Louis Shag, and Carolina Shaggin. You may even hear a tune that is appropriate for a little Salsa, Foxtrot, or Waltz. Your featured DJs for this special Holiday Swing dance are- Bryan Hlavacek from 9-10 Rahel Itsell from 10-11 Loreto Agdinaoay from 11-12 Who may attend? EVERYONE is welcome! Do I need a partner? No, we rotate dance partners during the lesson. If you prefer not to rotate during the lesson, please help direct the other students past you each time we rotate. What do I wear? Wear shoes that allow you to pivot and turn easily. Some people find this floor a little slow so, wearing your leather soles or slippery soled shoes might be perfect.
