Avenue Arts Marketplace & Theatre announces auditions for STRAIGHT WHITE MEN LOCATED AT 324 CLEVELAND AVE NW CANTON OHIO, 44702 SYNOPSIS: When Ed and his three adult sons come together to celebrate Christmas, they enjoy cheerful trash-talking, pranks, and takeout Chinese. Then they confront a problem that even being a happy family can’t solve: When identity matters, and privilege is problematic, what is the value of being a straight white man? Directed by: David Lee, Co-Artistic Director Auditions will be held March 13th and 14th from 7-9pm All auditioners are asked to come prepared to cold read from the script. We also ask that you bring a current headshot and resume with you to auditions. Rehearsals will begin March 18th and will generally be held Sunday-Thursday. Show dates are May 11th, 12th, 18th, and 19th at 8pm and May 13th at 2pm. CHARACTERS: Ed (Male, 50-70) - father of the family; a family man; good-natured, well-intentioned, liberal, and a bit sad since the passing of his wife. Matt (Male, 45-59) - politically and socially conscious and highly intelligent, but often uncomfortable in his skin; frustrated by the social expectations the world has for him; currently working a low-level temp job and living with his father. Jake (Male, 40-45) - a very successful banker; confident; recently divorced. Drew (Male, 35-40) - an award-winning writer and professor. A pulsating, electric contemporary rock musical, bare follows a group of students at a Catholic boarding school as they grapple with issues of sexuality, identity, and the future. Peter and Jason have fallen in love with each other, but Jason -- a popular athlete -- fears losing his status if he is discovered to be gay. Unpopular Nadia, Jason’s sister, is contemptuous of Ivy, a beautiful girl with a questionable reputation. As the group attempts to put up a production of Romeo and Juliet, tensions flare, self-doubt simmers, and God’s path seems more difficult to find than ever. bare rings with the sounds of youthful repression and revolt. With a unique sung-through pop score, heart-pounding lyrics, and a cast of bright young characters, bare is a provocative, fresh, and utterly honest look at the dangers of baring your soul, and the consequences of continuing to hide. There, he clashes with the head nurse, Ratched, a fierce disciplinarian. He quickly takes over the yard & leads others out of introversion, stages a revolt so that they can see the World Series on TV & arranges a rollicking midnight party with liquor & women. Ratched quietly works in the background to stop McMurphy from taking over her ward. The end is as shocking today & it was when it premiered 45 years ago. Regional Premiere of "Tomorrow Morning" at Western Reserve Playhouse!

Western Reserve Playhouse continues its successful 2018 season by presenting the Regional Premiere of Tomorrow Morning by Laurence Mark Wythe, which will run March 9-24. Tomorrow Morning is an hilarious and moving show that appeals to different generations: Anyone who has ever been in a relationship, anyone who has had one end when they thought it would last forever and anyone who has ever contemplated sharing their life with someone else. Two couples are separated by a span of time. Jack and Catherine, who are in their late 30s, are getting divorced. John and Kat, who are in their 20s, are getting married. On the eve of their wedding, Kat finds out that she is pregnant. When she informs Jack, he walks out on her. Catherine and John argue about their divorce settlement. Adam, their 10-year-old son, disappears, sending Catherine & John into hysterics. The show premiered in London in 2006 at the New End Theatre and was later presented at Victory Gardens Greenhouse Theater in Chicago in 2008. An Australian production of the show opened in Melbourne in September of 2010 at the Treble Clef Jazz Lounge. An Off-Broadway production began a limited run at the York Theatre in New York City in March of 2011, closing a month later. Ian Atwood directs this show, with musical direction by Bryan Bird. The cast stars well-known local actors Michael Snider, Dawn Sniadak-Yamokoski, Madeline Krucek & Tony Heffner. Tri-C Western Campus Theatre Arts Department AUDITIONS The Split Show By Lisa Langford Directed by Jimmie Woody The Split Show is inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement. It places the two realities created by the construct of race side by side and examines the consequences of Black skin in America. Using sit-com humor, gospel play tropes, and multimedia, it follows a Black family in the death of their son to police violence and a white family as they decide whether or not to keep the bi-racial baby they conceived in a fertility clinic mix up.
