*Lamplighter’s Broadway Bootcamp 101* *A new theater workshop for children 8-17* *Who are the Revere Lamplighters Youth Performance Guild?* The mission of the Revere Lamplighters Youth Performance Guild – The Lamplighters for short – is to serve as an educational organization for theater arts that establishes and advances standards of excellence in youth performance and encourages an active interest in theater arts beginning from school age children through young adulthood. We will achieve this by providing outstanding theater workshops, performances and community engagement through participation in local, state or national events. The Lamplighters was created and is led *by Executive Director* Kelly Elliott Clark. *Our workshops and performance based workshops *promise to teach your children basic acting techniques through theater games, short skits and full length shows that are enjoyable. Actors will be able to use their body, voice and imagination while creating fun characters, reading monologues and acting them out! No experience required! *Lamplighter’s Broadway Bootcamp 101* *This workshop* will provide your children with specific tools that will help them develop as an actress/actor, singer, and dancer in a musical theatre program. *Bootcamp 101* promises to work towards building a foundation that will help young actors to be successful onstage while having fun and playing games to learn about musicals. Musicals are super fun and develop incredible young performers that can accomplish anything they are given with the right goals and guidance. *Broadway Bootcamp 101* will be held at the Village of Richfield Recreation Center, Lower Level, 3333 Brecksville Road, Richfield, OH 44286. We are looking for 2 male actors. We are FilmFreedom Productions. My name is Carson Coombs & I am partnering with my friend, Jordan Meeker, to put on a short series entitled, ‘Elements with Four: The Search’. What is the series about? This show is about 4 teenagers. They all have different 'powers' and got them because of their past. Something happened to each of them, but they don't know what it is, they just know what their power is. They all meet each other and figure out they aren't alone, there are others that are in the same situation. Throughout the series, they try to figure out what happened to them to get their powers. Review of "Sweeney Todd" at Blank Canvas Theatre

Blank Canvas’ ‘Sweeney Todd’ smolders but is short on stagecraft Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal Member, International Association of Theatre Critics “Sweeney Todd,” with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, is a most unconventional musical. The show is overtly operatic, with little dialogue, a melodramatic storyline, and a dependence on ensemble performance to narrate and progress the story. Its unconventional hero is a homicidal barber out to revenge his wrongful imprisonment and the destruction of his young family. Set in 19th century London, Todd whittles away at his clientele as the fruits of his labor are processed into meat pies and sold by Todd’s delightfully demented landlady, Mrs. Lovett. Todd lies in wait until the Judge that set this madness in motion and who is now the guardian of his daughter, Johanna, walks through his door to receive the closest shave he’s ever had. And, as is typical of works by Sondheim, this one consists of enigmatic and frequently discordant music and lyrics that, while often void of melody and lacking that hummable quality found desirable in conventional show tunes, still manages to touch the soul while challenging the intellect. Despite the show’s eccentricities, productions of it still require the same core components found in all musicals: talent on stage and talent behind it. The current production of “Sweeney Todd” at Blank Canvas Theatre has the former in spades but is woefully lacking in the latter. A native Houstonian, Lauren Anderson danced with Houston Ballet from 1983 to 2006, performing leading roles in all the great classical ballets, appearing across the world to critical acclaim audience, and in the process, becoming one of Houston Ballet’s most beloved stars.She trained exclusively at Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy from the age of seven. She joined Houston Ballet in 1983 as a Corps de Ballet. In 1987 she was promoted to soloist and in 1990 became the first African-American to be promoted to principal dancer at Houston Ballet. She is also one of the few African-American ballerinas at the head of a major ballet company anywhere in the world.In January 2007, Ms. Anderson assumed her new role in Houston Ballet’s Education and Community Engagement program, where she conducts master classes at area schools, and lectures to students on dance and her historic career as one of America’s most distinguished African-American ballerinas.In the spring of 2016, she became a permanent exhibit in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.Lauren Anderson will bring her teaching excellence to Cleveland City DanceFebruary 23-25, 2018.
