Open auditions for Shrek The Musical at Silhouette Productions! Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears. Produced by Charlotte Mirabile Directed by Douglas F. Bailey II Musically Directed by Dave Coxe Choreography by Jen Justice When: June 20th and 27th from 7:00 pm- 9:30 pm. No appointment necessary. Please arrive at 7:00 pm and be prepared to move. CALLBACKS July 7th 12-5 PM if necessary by invitation only. Production Dates: October 12-21 Where: Shore Cultural Center Room 242 What to prepare: Please prepare two 32 bar cuts of contrasting musical theatre songs in the style of the show. Please also prepare a short joke. SHREK will begin rehearsals August 26th and runs October 12-21. Rehearsals will generally be Sunday Afternoons, and Monday-Thursday evenings. There are no AEA contracts for this production. ALL ROLES ARE AVAILABLE. QUESTIONS? THE ILLUSION FACTORY SUMMER THEATER CAMP will be held at Summit Artspace in Downtown Akron. Students will learn all aspects of theater and at the end of two weeks, will offer a special performance at the Akron Art Museum Join The Illusion Factory Players this summer and explore the magical world of fairy tales! Students will spend a fun-filled two weeks at downtown Akron's Summit Artspace creating a group performance highlighting their favorite fairytales, including "Aladdin," "Snow White" and more! Students will then perform their play in front of a live audience at the beautiful Akron Art Museum on July 27th! Bent Touches on Timely Themes at Beck Center Landmark drama now playing in the Studio Theater Lakewood, OH-Beck Center for the Arts proudly presents Bent June 1 through July 1, 2018 in the intimate Studio Theater. Bent contains adult content. The ground-breaking play Bent is about of group of gay men finding ways to survive persecution before and after the Night of the Long Knives. Within the confines of a concentration camp a secret love affair illustrates how the selfless love of one person for another can overcome oppression, even under the most extreme circumstances. When Bent was written, there was little awareness about the persecution of homosexuals by the Nazis. The play helped increase education and historical research. The original West End production starred Ian McKellen, and Richard Gere played the role on Broadway that premiered in 1979 and later nominated for a Tony Award(r) for Best Play. "With world events unfolding every day, this is perhaps the most timely play of the season," remarked Beck Center Artistic Director Scott Spence. Directed by Matthew Wright, Professor of Theater at Oberlin College, the talented cast includes Brian Altman, David Bugher, Antonio DeJesus, Luke Ehlert, Nate Homolka, Andrew Gorell, and Geoff Knox. Gorell and Knox both appear courtesy of the Actors' Equity Association (AEA). Tickets are $31 for adults, $27 for seniors (65 and older), and $12 for students with a valid I.D. A $3 service fee per ticket will be applied at time of purchase. Preview Night on Thursday, May 31 is $10 with general admission seating. Group discounts are available for parties of four or more. Piano lessons are for ages 5 years old and up and adults. Lessons include rote singing and playing for the children, technique exercises for finger flexibility and strength, harmonies and improvisations, and repertoire from Baroque to contemporary composers. Voice lessons are for ages 14 years and up and adults. Lessons include posture and breathing exercises, vocalizes to increase your flexibility and strength, diction, languages, and repertoire from Baroque to contemporary composers. Coach House Theatre is seeking a musical director for their summer youth musical, I Believe In Make Believe by Carol Lynn Pearson. Synopsis: 5 Grimm Brothers Fairy Tales centering around The Princess Who Never Laughed. Auditions: Saturday July 21 12:00-3:00 pm and Sunday July 22 4:00-7:00 pm Reh info: The music is very simple and sweet and does not take long to teach. Our hope is to start reh around July 25 and teach all music the first week, we will also record rehearsal tracks to use for blocking/choreo reh. to help keep scheduling flexible. Must be available Aug 12-16 evening for tech and all performance dates.
