Avenue Arts proudly announces auditions for... VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE AUDITIONS WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE CULTURAL CENTER FOR THE ARTS!! Located at 1001 Market Ave. N Canton, Ohio 44702 SYNOPSIS: Middle-aged siblings Vanya and Sonia share a home in Bucks County, PA, where they bicker and complain about the circumstances of their lives. Suddenly, their movie-star sister, Masha, swoops in with her new boy toy, Spike. Old resentments flare up, eventually leading to threats to sell the house. Also on the scene are sassy maid Cassandra, who can predict the future, and a lovely young aspiring actress named Nina, whose prettiness somewhat worries the imperious Masha. "VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE" is presented by special arrangement with Dramatist Play Services, Inc. Directed by: Brian Westerley Stage Manager: Morgan Brown Auditions will be held on Tuesday, June 29th and Wednesday, June 30th from 7-9pm Callbacks (if necessary) will take place later in the week, date TBD. All auditioners are asked to come prepared to cold read from the script. We also ask that you bring a current headshot and resume with you to auditions. Review of "The Choir of Man" at Playhouse Square

‘The Choir of Man’ at Playhouse Square a satisfying segue to live theater Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal “The Choir of Man,” now playing at Playhouse Square, is the perfect placeholder for those starved for live theater and desperate for mask-free indoor entertainment. This lightweight 90-minute show is one part boy band cover concert and two parts feel-good group therapy session. The production consists of nine amiable twenty-to-thirty-somethings hanging out in an alehouse and working their way through a jukebox song list. These highly diverse offerings are the equivalent of a mix tape that has something for everyone but will most likely enthrall no one. Jack Blume’s rudimentary choreography – plenty of stomping, strutting, and synchronized stepping – is executed with so much energy and abandon that it appears to be a greater achievement than it really is. All this works, in large part because the show’s calculated joyousness, well-rehearsed spontaneity, and infectious exuberance is delivered by very talented, predominantly British and Irish performers. The show also works because the world is pivoting out of a pandemic. Audiences are so thirsty for live entertainment that we are willing to crawl through the desert that is still Playhouse Square and eagerly drink the sand. Opening Friday Night, Live and In Person!

SHADOW OF THE RUN presents DreamWalkers Premiering live and in person on June 25, in Bedford, OH BEDFORD, Ohio – May 2021 – Shadow of the Run LLC (SotR) Co-Founders Adam Kern, Beth McGee, Ben Needham and Christine Woods announced that their Immersive Theatre project DreamWalkers, will premiere live and in person in a limited engagement in June and July 2021 in the City of Bedford. DreamWalkers is SotR’s fourth production in Cleveland. Since their first production, Shadow of the Run – Chapter 1: WanderLust premiered in June 2019, followed by RAILROADED: A Shadow of the Run Story, and The Torso Book Club, a virtual immersive that raised $5,000 for Cleveland local artists that lost work due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The company’s vision to develop Northeast Ohio audiences’ taste for immersive and interactive theatre continues this summer in a story of mystery and intrigue, while offering a safe and socially distanced in-person event. “We are excited to continue plans for the remainder of our Torso Cycle: Chapter 2: Calloused, and Chapter 3: Kingsbury Run, but in the meantime as we all emerge back into the world from the past year, we are thrilled to continue to build on our partnership with the Bedford community and local businesses to bring DreamWalkers to light!” said Co-Founder Adam Kern. Co-Founder Christine Woods continued, “Joining us again are our producing partners, SecretPond. Only the DreamWalkers can forge a path through this immersive journey of grim ancestries and unsettling futures. Can we outgrow the sins of our ancestors, or are we stuck in the trap of everlasting nightmares? Help Chloe untangle the vivid and strange plotlines of her subconscious. But be careful; in exposing these secrets you may risk life and limb and stay forever lost in Chloe’s slumber. Directed by Cleveland local Dan Hendrock, with a story by Beth McGee, with additional story elements by Christine Woods and Carol Dolan. Production design by Bedford resident and co-founder Ben Needham, and line producing by Adam Kern. Performances Dates: June 25-27 July 1-3 July 9-11 Runtime – 60 minutes, with no intermission. There are 12 performance times per evening, with 10 tickets available per time slot. FREE Literary Conference for Playwrights and Other Writers

Literary Cleveland presents their* 2021 Inkubator Conference <https://www.litcleveland.org/events-programs/inkubator-conference-2021>*, a free literary festival for writers and readers. This year, the conference runs from July 11-25 and is completely virtual for anyone to stream. Playwrights, novelists, or other interested parties can attend writing workshops, open mics, or panels like the following: *The "Writing Multiple Storylines" workshop *features best-selling author D.M. Pulley on July 14th & 21st from 4-5 pm EST. Participants explore parallel story structures and investigate ways of combining different perspectives to deepen the plot. *A panel on "Writing Illness: The Pandemic and Beyond" *streams on Tuesday, July 13th, from 7-8:30 pm EST. It features Caren Beilin, Ali Black, Leora Fridman, and Hilary Plum, all authors who are experienced in writing about illness. The panelists consider writing as a space for mourning and healing after COVID-19 and as a call for racial and socioeconomic justice. *An Inkubator Open Mic with One Mic Open* streams on Friday, July 16th from 7-9 pm. Join to be featured during the conference or hear the best upcoming talent in the area. If you want to read, check the box when you register for the event on Zoom. Readers will be drawn from a hat. *The in-person, outdoor Inkubator Pop-Up* features a book fair, a community-building workshop, and another open mic for an opportunity to share your work.
