VERSE WORKSHOPS Saturday Jan 13, 12pm 3 SPOTS LEFT Join Artist Director Terry Burgler and Assoc. Artistic Director Tess Burgler for 90 minutes of acting work focused on Shakespeare’s text. Learn to approach verse naturally (no more “Shakespeare voice”) and lose any Shakesfear you may have. We will look at ways that verse and heightened language help the actor make strong and exciting choices using John Barton’s method of text analysis. This class will be beneficial to novices and experienced actors alike. (The same workshop is held on both dates. Please choose one to attend.) Verse class is best for ages 12 and older. STAGE COMBAT CLASS Monday Jan 15, 7pm 1 SPOT LEFT Join Resident Fight Director Ryan Zarecki for an introduction to stage combat class. 90 minutes of learning the safety and partnering techniques to make stage violence look real (and real cool) in an environment where collaboration, communication, and consent are paramount. Students will learn basics of footwork, slaps, punches, falls, and beginning sword play. (The same workshop is held on both dates. Please choose one to attend.) Stage combat students must be 14+ years old. No exceptions—sorry!

*WHO ATE THE SUN* By Erin E. Dolan Directed by Rachael Endrizzi Lorain County Community College theatre program and Spark Theatre Company announce non-equity auditions for “Who Ate The Sun,” a new take on the timeless tale. Fascinated by stars and planets, Ash loves to study the sky. One afternoon on a walk through the neighborhood, the sun disappears entirely! Follow their journey as Ash and some animal friends ask, “Who ate the sun?” This play is a World Premiere Production, written by Cleveland playwright, Erin E. Dolan, especially for this spring's solar eclipse! Copies of the script will be on reserve at the LCCC Bass Library until the audition dates. Digital copies for perusal may also be obtained by emailing sparktheatre4youth(a)gmail.com. WHO: Auditions are open to all LCCC students and staff, as well as actors from the community. We are seeking actors of all types for performances at LCCC Stocker Arts Center’s Cirigliano Theatre, as well as actors to travel with the show on tour to schools in May. Actors do NOT need to be available for the tour to audition. We will likely have a larger cast for the LCCC April public performances, and a select group of actors to double roles for the May tour. Actors may be considered for both options but have the option to audition for just one or the other. WHAT: Auditions will be held in 5-minute time slots. You will be asked to read from available sides at the audition. If available, please bring one copy of your headshot and resume to the audition. AUDITION DATES: Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 2 pm – 4 pm and Monday, January 22, 2024 from 7 pm – 9 pm Callbacks will be held Wednesday, January 24 from 7pm-9pm, as needed. Rehearsals to begin on Monday, February 5, 2024 WHERE: Stocker Arts Center’s Cirigliano Studio Theatre 1005 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035 PUBLIC PERFORMANCE DATES at Cirigliano Theatre: March 21 – 22, 2024 at 7:30 pm March 23 at 2pm March 21 & 22 at 9:45 & 11:45am (for school field trips) Students cast will receive letters to excuse them from any LCCC classes that might conflict with the matinee performances. TOURING PERFORMANCE DATES: May 1-26, 2024. To be considered for the touring portion of this production, actors should have reasonable availability or flexibility during school hours from May 1-26, some conflicts are fine, and tours will be scheduled around actor availability. The tour is expected to perform approximately 15-20 performances throughout the month of May to schools in NE Ohio. Last Night of AUDITIONS IN DOYLESTOWN TONIGHT

Thank you for a great first night of open auditions last night!! We're doing it one more time TONIGHT from 6 - 8pm at the Blue Macaroon Theater! 84 1/2 N Portage St Doylestown. OH This is a wonderful opportunity for any aspiring young actors ages 8 - 18. We hope to see you there! Clara’s journey to Queen: an original Blue Macaroon Theater production! This is the fantastical story of a young princess finding herself and her friends. When her cat is kidnapped and her love is taken away from her, she risks it all to escape her family’s expectations. She learns of love, betrayal, and what it truly means to have a best friend forever. A happy ending for a coming of age story, she learns and adapts for what is her calling. Clara’s Journey is written by local writer and student Dakota Dunn. She will be directing alongside her mother Cari Dunn to bring this youth written show to the stage. The show will perform Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23rd at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 24th at 2:00 p.m. Please be prepared to have a cold read from the script. A prepared monologue is not mandatory, but welcomed. Auditions are open for all roles, for ages 8-18.
