con*ver*gence-continu*um* announces auditions for This Side of Crazy by Del Shores directed by Kate Smith *PLAY DESCRIPTION:* Ditty Blaylock, the most prolific singer in gospel music history, is being honored by Gospel Music Network. All the stars are aligning to showcase Ditty’s songs on her TV special. But there is one glitch. A little hiccup. Ditty has promised a reunion of The Blaylock Sisters, her three adult daughters who were once national sensations – “little superstars for Jesus.” Rachel, the oldest sister, who lives with Ditty, is furious when she finds out that her baby sister Bethany, an atheist and lesbian, and Abigail, her middle sister who has “anger issues” and currently is confined to a mental facility, are headed home. What the public doesn't know is that these complicated sisters have been estranged for over twenty-five years – and extreme past circumstances, including a husband left in a coma, have made reconciliation impossible. Once the sisters are reunited, secrets are revealed, tempers flare and family wounds are exposed. But… the show must go on! *AVAILABLE ROLES:* - *DITTY BLAYLOCK* The matriarch of the family. Seventy, but some "work" has perhaps kept her looking younger. Once a stage mother, she is controlling and narcissistic. Lives for the dramatic and the spotlight. - *RACHEL BLAYLOCK HANKS *is the oldest sister. She’s forty-eight, pretty, conservative and well-preserved and can never be wrong. - *BETHANY BLAYLOCK*, the youngest sister is a very hot, hard-bodied forty-five. She has failed at marriage and love too many times to count, is now an atheist and a lesbian. She is always thinking, questioning, and most likely has untreated ADHD. - *ABIGAIL BLAYLOCK* is the middle sister. She’s forty-six, but looks older and has lots of suppressed anger. Betrayed by her sister Rachel, who stole her fiancé, Abigail strangled the man who also betrayed her. *ABOUT THE AUDITIONS:* - Sunday, August 11th at 2 - 4 PM - Monday, August 12th at 7 - 9 PM Auditions will occur at the LIMINIS Theatre 2438 Scranton Rd. Workshop Players announce auditions for *A 1940s Radio Christmas Carol* by Walton Jones, David Wohl and Faye Greenberg, directed by Kristina Rivera. Auditions will be held at the theater, 44820 Middle Ridge Rd., Amherst on Sunday, August 18 from 3 - 5 p.m. and on Tuesday, August 20 from 7 – 9 p.m. Please bring sheet music for a favorite Christmas song, in the correct key. There will be cold readings from the script. For more information, contact the director at kriverakr35(a)gmail.com The year is 1943 and the Feddington Players are geared up to present their contemporary take on Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” Though it seems a coup to snag famous soap opera star William St. Claire to play Scrooge, a mid-show breakdown on his part leads to a hilarious improvised “save” of Tiny Tim … and even the Lindberg Baby. This charming show demonstrates the old art of “live radio,” alongside traditional caroling, 1940’s style commercials that would never fly today, and an amazing rendition of the well-known Dickens tale. It is heartwarming and funny. And a great way to usher in the Christmas season. Performance dates are Nov. 14-17 and 22-24 *A 1940s Radio Christmas Carol* Character descriptions (*age ranges just a suggestion*) : Females 20s – 40s Males 20s – 70s Clifton Feddington, 55: Front man for WOV’s Nash-Kelvinator Mystery Theatre, Mutual Announcer. William St. Claire, 70: A retired star of stage and screen. William is a bit of a curmudgeon and looks down on radio as one of the bastard children of the stage. A guest performer in tonight’s show, Mr. St. Claire plays Scrooge. Charles “Cholly” Butts, 35: A funny man. Has a day job as a baker at Weequahic Diner (where his specialty is the nesselrode pie). Fritz Canigliaro, early 40s: Once an East-coast Florsheim Shoe salesman (and still plugs them whenever he gets an opportunity for a little commission), now a WOV regular. The resident masher, cynic and wise-guy, Fritz plays Frank Nelson cameos in comedy sketches. “Little” Jackie Sparks, Tenor, 18: Not actually “little,” but young with a high speaking voice. Judith Davenport, 30s: Although quite the cutup herself, Judith is the resident “leading lady” playing all such roles as a regular. Determined and stubborn. Considers herself a “legit” actress. Day job working as a switchboard operator. Margie O’Brien, 30s: Brassy, flippant, with a voice to match). As a show regular, plays the comic roles. She works days as a bookkeeper/typist/stenographer/receptionist. Sally Simpson, 20: Seems sweet and gentle, but is a tough lady. As a show regular, plays all animals, babies, insects, little kids. Isadore “Buzz” Crenshaw, 24: His life is his work. The “sound effectician” at WOV. Has a sharp wit and is always agreeable, whistling, and in a good mood. The Millennial Theatre Project presents "Say It Loud" - a powerful collection of real stories depicting the African American experience of living in Akron, Ohio. We are currently seeking two talented black female actors to join our upcoming tour. This non-union opportunity offers compensation for both rehearsal time and performances. Our tour is scheduled to encompass 4 shows between November 10th and November 23rd of this year.
