Stow Players is pleased to present an all youth production of The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe Dramatized by Joseph Robinette from the story by C.S. Lewis. Directed by Justin Selden. We are seeking actors ages 8 to 17. All roles are available. Performance dates are December 6,7,13,14, 20, and 21 at 7:30pm and December 8,15, and 22 at 2:30pm. Auditions will be held Monday September 23 and Tuesday September 24 from 5 PM to 7:30PM at the Heritage Barn in Silver Springs Park. The address is 5238 Young Road, Stow. Attendance at one audition is all that is required, you do not need to attend both nights. Auditions are open call and will consist of a one minute memorized monologue of the actor's choice and reading from the script. Actor's should bring their resume, if they have one. We encourage all those interested to audition. If you need monologue suggestions, please email stowplayers(a)gmail.com and some will be provided to you for review. Rehearsals will begin September 30 through December 5 and generally run Monday through Thursday evenings. Not all cast members will rehearse each day. A copy of the rehearsal schedule will be available at the audition to declare conflicts. Attendance at all dress rehearsals December 1 through 5 is mandatory, as is attendance at all performances. The Millennial Theatre Project is currently seeking a Musical Director for our upcoming production of Hairspray! The show is scheduled to run from January 10th to 26th, with rehearsals commencing on November 10th. Auditions will be held on October 14th from 6-10 pm, and callbacks are scheduled for October 21st from 6:30-9:30 pm. Please be aware that this is a paid, non-union opportunity. We are looking for a skilled pianist to take on the role of Musical Director. The musician will be responsible for instructing the cast in the music during rehearsals and performing with our live band during the shows. CPT is seeking *part-time Substitute Teaching Artists* to assist in implementing CPT Education programming. Theatre experience is a plus. We are looking to build a strong core of artists who are dedicated to creating work to further racial and economic justice. This role pays $22/hr. ------------------------------ CMHA CLEVELAND ACT NOW CMHA Cleveland Act Now (CAN) takes place in partnership with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) at community centers for children and families who live in public housing. Under the guidance of CPT Teaching Artists, young artists learn how to create and perform their own plays, dance, poetry, music, and visual art. These multidisciplinary performing arts activities improve academic skills, instill empathy and responsibility, build character, and enhance creative thinking. The students regularly perform at CMHA community centers as well as arts festivals throughout Cleveland. CMHA CAN is offered in four CMHA communities: Lakeview Terrace, Woodhill Homes, Outhwaite Homes, and Riverside Park. CLEVELAND ACT NOW ACADEMY (CAN ACADEMY) Cleveland Act Now (CAN) Academy is a free performing arts program for younger teens and youth from Cleveland and surrounding neighborhoods, held on-site at Cleveland Public Theatre. The Juniors program serves youth ages 7-10, and the Seniors program serves youth ages 11-14. Young artists engage in rigorous (and fun!) theatre training, learning acting fundamentals, script analysis, storytelling techniques, and play creation. Y-HAVEN THEATRE PROJECT Y-Haven Theatre Project is a program for residents of Y-Haven, a YMCA center providing temporary housing and Substance Use Disorder treatment to individuals who are homeless, re-entering the community from incarceration, and/or recovering from Opioid Use Disorder. The program teaches performing arts and technical aspects of theatre while addressing critical personal, interpersonal, and job-related skills through a comprehensive process. (Think “a French Dr. Watson.”) * SAMUEL RATCHETT/(M, middle-age, American accent)/: An American businessman and the play’s murder victim, Ratchett is brusque and unforgiving, with a threatening demeanor and a whiplash of a voice. He’s made plenty of enemies… almost everyone has wished him dead. Note: The actor who is cast will double with Colonel Arbuthnot (described below) and must display two distinct characters. * COLONEL ARBUTHNOT/(M, middle age, Scottish)/: A Scotsman, Arbuthnot is handsome and very matter of fact. He’s hopelessly in love with Mary Debenham. Note: The actor who is cast will double with Samuel Ratchett (described above) and must display two distinct characters. * COUNTESS ELÉNA ANDRENYI/(F, Early 20’s, Hungarian)/: Brilliantly beautiful and always dressed to the nines in furs and diamonds. Christie describes her as “timid and charming…exotic and beautiful.” Note: In the novel and films, the Countess is accompanied by her husband, the Count. The Count does not exist in this adaptation, and Ludwig’s Countess character is somewhat of an amalgamation of the two. She is also a trained physician which serves to eliminate yet another Christie character (the Doctor). * MARY DEBENHAM/(F, late 20’s early 30’s, R.P./standard English)/: An English beauty in her late twenties, Mary bears a certain sadness in her eyes. When she first appears, she is very anxious. * PRINCESS DRAGOMIROFF/(F, 60+, Russian)/: A Russian princess, now in her seventies, described as entering her compartment “like a galleon in full sail.” Expensively dressed and handsomely bejeweled. Described by Christie as “one of the ugliest old ladies Poirot had ever seen. It was an ugliness of distinction – it fascinated rather than repelled.” Speaks in rather autocratic tones to pretty much everyone, especially her lady’s maid. * GRETA OHLSSON/(F, 40+, Swedish)/: Plain and modest, Greta has a frightened, sheep-like quality about her. * MICHEL THE CONDUCTOR/HEAD WAITER/(M, any age, French)/: Professional in demeanor, he is knowledgeable and a bit overconfident, but not arrogant. He has a quiet, almost grave sense of humor. He’s seen a lot in his years on the Orient Express, and he knows his way around the train. /Note: This role is doubled, but the two characters may not need to be highly differentiated./ * HELEN HUBBARD/(F, 40+, any American accent)/: An outspoken, entitled wealthy American in her fifties, well dressed with a touch of flamboyance, Mrs. Hubbard is a tough-talking broad with rough edge and a bold sense of humor which irritates many of the Europeans. * HECTOR MacQUEEN/(M, early 30s, any American accent)/: Personal secretary to Mr. A nervous young American with a strained, rather beleaguered face, Hector appears to be suppressing something. In addition to the above roles, the show opens with a pre-recorded scene of voices, a Mother, Father, Nanny, and Little Girl.
