*Red Barn Youth Theater Auditions * for 2 One-Act Holiday shows: *In Search of Chritma* by Natalie Ashanin Directed by Dr. Greg Dziama *AND* *The Santa Interviews* by Wade Bradford Directed by Richie Lynch *Audition Dates: *Monday, Oct. 7 and Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 4-5:30PM *Show Dates: *December 19-21, 2024, on Thursday and Friday at 7PM, and Saturday at 2PM and 7PM. Several roles are available for students in Grades 3 - 10 for both plays. *In Search of Chritma* *Story: * Two aliens from the planet FRAMJAM pay a visit to the Ames family. They want to learn why earthlings celebrate the holiday, "Chritma." The Ames children and their friends explain it all, and they do in a way that is both poignant and funny. Rehearsals will be on Mondays and Wednesdays, October 14 through December 18 from 4-5:30PM. *The Santa Interviews* Story: A sweet look at what the Big Guy has to deal with while running things at the North Pole. This is fun and laughter! Rehearsals will be on Tuesday and Thursday, October 15 through December 17 from 4-5:30PM. Open auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Plymouth Church of Shaker Heights, an Open and Affirming/Just Peace congregation of the United Church of Christ, is seeking a tenor section leader for its adult choir. The position reports to the Director of Music and the Arts and requires availability for the weekly Sunday morning service at 10:30 a.m with a 9:45 a.m. choral warmup and the midweek choir rehearsal from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. during the program year that runs from September through May. Additional mandatory services include Christmas Eve and Maundy Thursday. Compensation is $65 per call (each rehearsal and each service is considered a call), paid monthly. While there will be opportunities for solos, duets, etc., the primary responsibility of the position is to provide musical leadership and support for the volunteer singers in the section. Consequently, strong sight-reading skills are indispensable and a cheerful, collaborative spirit is needed as well. Christian faith is helpful but not required. Directed by Abbey Marshall with stage combat direction by Austin Vandegrift. Auditions will take place on November 13 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Akron Civic Theater’s Knight Stage. Actors may choose between two time slots: 6:30-8 pm or 8:10-9:30 pm. Actors will read sides from the script in groups. Below is a breakdown of details for the show: Olde Towne Hall Theater’s Night of One Act Plays Performances on November 15, 16, and 17 at French Creek Theater Of the four plays, I will be directing two of them: Bad Auditions By Bad Actors - Ian McWethy The Radio Play Disaster - Don Zolidis Bad Auditions will be positioned just before intermission and runs 19 pages Radio Play will close the show (because nothing will be able to follow it) and runs 31 pages. Both plays are seriously funny…with Radio Play being the best example of pure, controlled chaos that snowballs out of control exponentially. It will be so much fun to perform, as well as for the audience to see. Auditions will be held September 28th and 29th. Auditions and rehearsals will be at Fields United Methodist Church in NR. Rehearsals start October 7 and run as follows: Oct 7 - M-Th - 7-9PM Oct 14 - M-Th - 7-9PM Oct 21 - M-Th - 7-9PM Oct 28 - M-W 7-9PM (F - TBD) Nov 4 - M-Th - 7-9PM Tech Week (at French Creek) - Nov 10 - Sunday - time TBD Nov 11-13 - M-W - times TBD, evening Nov 14 - Preview Night (call time TBD) Rehearsals shouldn’t require every actor every day, but we’ll tailor the schedule to suit everyone’s availability. Both shows will utilize the same core group, so most of you will have 2 distinct roles. While Bad Actors is more of a series of solo pieces, Radio Play is a true ensemble, having everyone on the stage at the same time. BOTH shows, and especially combined, are a real showcase for actors and the opportunity to not only craft two characters, but to really show some amazing range within the comedy space.
