Rehearsals will be Monday – Thursday evenings, weekend afternoons depending on cast availability The Little Mermaid is Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved and well-known fairy tale, which is why it’s not the story our friend, Dolan, is going to tell you today. No, he’s going to tell you the story about a Little Rain Cloud who falls in love with a human. They are not the same story at all, he swears. This playful, quirky, loose adaptation of The Little Mermaid, about a Little Rain Cloud who falls in love with a human, unpacks some personal history about Hans Christian Andersen. Updated Application Deadline: November 3, 2025 SoftLaunch is a performance festival that seeks bold experimentation, innovation, and complete reinvention of what theatre can be. Think installation art, immersive performance, shows for intimate audiences, and way beyond all that-it can be as far out as your imagination will take you! This weekend-long festival takes place January 15, 16 and 17, 2026 at 7pm. Audience members receive a pass and can wander as they wish to see (and be a part of) various performance experiments. We are seeking work that ranges from workshop to fully produced. Pieces or experiences outside the theatrical play format, not plays, or at least, not the way we are used to thinking about plays... CWRU Department of Dance Presents MaDaCol Fall 2025 Case Western Reserve University’s Department of Dance is pleased to announce this fall’s production of MaDaCol (Mather Dance Collective). Performances are on November 20 - 22 at 7:30 pm at Mather Dance Center, 11040 Bellflower Road, on the Case Western Reserve campus in University Circle. MaDaCol, one of the university’s oldest undergraduate student organizations, offers an important creative outlet for CWRU graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, staff, and greater Cleveland community members. This year’s program will feature an exciting selection of dance works: Checkmate…? by Richard Oaxaca, Awakening by Zhaonian Li, I’ve Been Looking for You… by Lucia Mancha, and Unification by Ziyue Wei. Checkmate…? Checkmate…?, by faculty member Richard Oaxaca, uses the game of chess as a metaphor of a battle where each team of dancers is determined to protect their King and Queen and ultimately the kingdom. Through humor and movement inspired by the rules and strategies of chess, one side defeats the other. However, even the best strategies can fail, and some rules were meant to be broken. Awakening Awakening, choreographed by Zhaonian Li, explores awakening that unfolds amidst life’s distractions, navigating disorientation, resistance, and rediscovery. Evolving movement reveals the rise of new awareness, the tension between struggle and release, and the final transformation. I’ve Been Looking For You… Lucia Mancha’s I’ve Been Looking for You… explores human relationships, both platonic and romantic, and the paths that lead us to discover and connect. Created on a cast of 12 dancers, duets and trios emerge to demonstrate the individual connections that can be forged from spontaneous encounters. These groupings, punctuated by strong gazes, facings and reaching movements that are often beyond that of physical touch, are dynamic and ever-changing (as relationships often are). But rather than being daunting, as this subject often is, the upbeat, jazz-inspired music suggests a journey filled with optimism, adventure, and inquisitive exploration. Unification Unification, choreographed by Ziyue Wei, draws inspiration from an ancient Chinese myth KuaFu Chase the Sun and reimagines it as a meditation on people's collective effort. Through the dancers’ separation and convergence, the work traces a journey from individuals suffering in isolation to a powerful unison, highlighting the beauty and resilience that emerge through unity. Seeking one actor for December tour

Spark Theatre Company is seeking one more actor for the December tour of the World Premiere, *Why Won't Zee Quack*. This is a paid role, open to actors of any gender/race. The character of Zee is a duckling who has developed differently than their siblings and has yet to quack. Ideal candidates would be able to portray a young character (likely actors ages 18-30). Actors under 18 will be considered if they are able to commit to the demands of the performance schedule. Special consideration and preference will be given to actors with Autism, a nuerodivergent person, or a person with disabilities.
