*Painting the Town: Art Competition for Utility Box Designs* Building on the success of nine years of traffic utility box projects, the Shaker Arts Council (SHAC) is pleased to announce this year’s project: *Painting the Town*. SHAC is sponsoring a juried *art competition* for the design of *utility boxes* located in Shaker Heights. Local artists are invited to participate. Please download the *attached template and application*. All designs must be submitted electronically on the template provided. Designs and applications must be submitted to SHAC via email (info(a)shakerartscouncil.org) no later than *Friday 4 April** 2025 - Deadline Extension.* Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 21 years old and live or work in Shaker Heights. Applicants who reside in the Shaker Heights School District or are a member of the Shaker Arts Council also are eligible. Learn how to become a member here <http://weebly-link/557831175676068622>. Artists whose designs have been installed in three (3) consecutive years may not apply. Applicants may submit more than one (1) design, but each must be submitted in a separate email. There are no entry fees. Artists retain all copyrights to their artwork. Artists whose designs are selected will receive a $500.00 stipend after the work is installed. All entries must be anonymous. *Do not sign your submittal nor indicate your name on the submitted design document.* André Taylor, Art Educator, will serve as this year’s jury chair. Since all of the boxes have slightly different dimensions, artists whose work is selected may have to reformat their designs to fit the matched boxes. Design Criteria: - Black or very dark backgrounds are not permitted. - Words are not permitted in the designs, per the City of Shaker Heights code. - Art created in non-digital media must be digitized for submittal. - Final designs must be submitted as camera-ready, 600 dpi files. By submitting a design proposal, all artists agree to: - allow SHAC to use images of the designs on printed materials, websites and social media for promotional purposes only; - allow SHAC to photograph the work; - allow SHAC to submit the proposal to the city’s Shaker Heights Arts Task Force for their final approval and to obtain the artist’s modification of the design, if necessary, to meet the city’s requirements. Sips & Nibbles with a Sneak Peek with City Ballet of Cleveland

Since 2020, the company has held a biennial gala that promotes the company’s endeavors. This year, CBC will host its first Sips & Nibbles event. CBC’s friends and supporters are invited to join the company for a fun evening featuring a wine-pull, beer-pull, and silent auction. *Audition Notice for Gates Mills Players’ radio play production of “The Birds”* Based on the acclaimed classic film *The Birds*, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, this production will be performed in July at Gates Mills Players in the style of a 1940s radio play. Actors will be seated on stage and sound effects will be produced live during the show using props! The show will also feature “advertisements” for 1940s products and services, read by two of the actors. *AUDITIONS* will be held at 1460 Chagrin River Road in Gates Mills from 6:00-8:00PM on April 28th (Gates Mills Players or by request only) and April 30th (general public invited). If necessary, callbacks will be held *by invitation only* from 6:00-8:00PM on May 1st. No appointments are required for auditions unless you wish to attend on April 28th. Please arrive at 6PM on your audition day prepared to read selections from the script. Bring a list of conflicts between July 1st and July 26th as well as headshot and resume, if you have one. *PERFORMANCES* are scheduled for July 25th and 26th at 7PM. *REHEARSALS* will be held during the 2-3 weeks leading up to the performances, typically during weekday nights. Odyssey Film Camps offer hands-on training in the art and craft of filmmaking at Cleveland State University’s School of Film & Media Arts. Led by CSU faculty, students gain access to professional soundstages, editing labs, and an extensive inventory of film production equipment. Odyssey offers 5 different residential or day camps for teens (age13-18) and a unique pre-college film experience on CSU Arts Campus in the heart of Playhouse Square. 5-Day Film Challenge - JUNE (June 8 -13) Each student joins a crew and creates an original film. Filmmakers Intensive (June 15 - 27) Each student makes their own film from concept to scriptwriting to directing to postproduction. Screenwriting (July 6 - 11) Each student learns screenwriting technique with their own Celtex account and writes their own script. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 2, 2025 *MTC to Hold Auditions for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat* *Youngstown, Ohio* - The Millennial Theatre Company (MTC) is holding open auditions for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Auditions will be held at the Youngstown Playhouse’s new downtown location (220 W Boardman Street in Youngstown). Adult auditions (ages 15+) will be held Saturday, April 5th and Sunday, April 6th from 11am-2 pm, and youth auditions (ages 7+) will be held April 6th from 2pm-3:30 pm. ALL ROLES ARE OPEN! Please come prepared to do some light moving and a cold reading from the script. A headshot and resume are encouraged but not required. The irresistible family musical is about the trials and triumphs of Joseph, Israel’s favorite son. *Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat* is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors with music by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.
