The class will build skills in slating, audition process, relaxation techniques, character development and emotional expression. Students will receive constructive feedback on their work. Veteran actor and dancer Russ Tamblyn is coming to Cleveland for three separate film screenings on Sept. 16, 17 & 18. The Friday and Saturday showings will be at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque, 11610 Euclid Avenue; the Sunday afternoon showing will be at the Cleveland Museum of Art, 11150 East Boulevard. AUDITIONS FOR "UBU ROI"

WHAT Lorain County Community College Theatre Department is looking for students and community members to audition for its Fall Mainstage production, the wildly hilarious, grotesque, taboo-shattering, ground breaking avant-garde classic, UBU ROI, by Alfred Jarry, directed by Terence Cranendonk. This is a non-equity production. Rehearsals will begin Monday, October 3 and performance dates are November 17, 18, and 19, 2016. If you are cast, expect to rehearse Monday through Thursday evenings, as well as Sunday afternoons, for 4 to 5 hours. WHAT TO PREPARE: Please prepare a two-minute ³mini performance² that incorporates speaking text (a theatrical monologue, a poem, or a passage from a novel or short story, for example) and a special skill that you have (such as acrobatics, gymnastics, tumbling/rolling, magic, mentalism, puppetry, ventriloquism, juggling, unicycling, playing spoons, ukulele, playing a musical instrument of any kind, hula hooping, baton twirling, dancing, singing, yo-yoing, bird calling, kazoo, etc.) If you do not have any of the skills on this list, please add one of your ownthis is not an optional part of the audition. I am looking for your creativity in being able to combine your text with another skill. Remember, playing an instrument (even a kazoo) or singing qualifies. You may also be asked to read selections from the script and to improvise with other members of your audition group. Please also come prepared to write down all your schedule conflicts. East Side Swing Dance with live music and dance lessons!

We welcome everyone to join us at our swing dance events and classes! Please join us this Saturday, August 27th at the Slovenian Workmen’s Home on Waterloo Road in Collinwood. The dance lesson is from 8-9. We always review the basic Jitterbug step, talk about the basics of leading and following, and then show a few new moves. Each lesson is unique and you will always pick up new moves and hints each time you attend a pre-dance lesson at a Get Hep Swing event. These lessons are appropriate for brand spankin' new dancers all the way up to advanced dancers. You will not be disappointed! Immediately after the lesson (at 9 PM) Blue Lunch will kick off an awesome night of live music selection until 12am. Everyone is welcome to come and have fun with us at the swing dance. There is no need to have previous dance experience or a dance partner. We rotate partners during the lesson so you will have the chance to meet and dance with lots and lots of people before the live music even begins! If you are attending the dance with a partner and do not want to rotate, that is fine too. $12 per person/$10 for students and seniors with a valid ID/$5 for first timers. No need to make reservations or buy tickets in advance. The Waterloo Ballroom at the Slovenian Workmen's Home is located in the very artsy and lively Collinwood neighborhood. The address is 15335 Waterloo Rd, Cleveland, Ohio 44110. The Slovenian not only has a beautiful ballroom; they also have a well stocked bar. They have alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks of all kinds for sale--including a very special Slovenian beer- Lasko! There will also be some sweet and savory snacks for sale as well. The sign for the Slovenian has been taken down so please look for the sign for the bar just to the east of us, Packy Malleys. Our entrance is just to the left of them. There are TWO parking lots to the right of the ballroom and there is also some street parking as well. We also have a security guard who keeps an eye on the hall and both parking lots.
