We¹re looking for actors ages 8 to 80 to help with a table read Sunday, May 31 at 1 p.m. at the Carnegie Center, 329 W. 10th St., Lorain, Ohio. Blooms of Steel is a musical version of a play commissioned by the Lorain County Metro Parks in 2008 about the history of the community that grew around the steel mill in Lorain. The Lorain Historical Society, in partnership with the Lorain Palace and the Lorain County Community College Theater Department, is producing the musical in the spring of 2016. Ashland University Department of Theatre seeks applicants for a one year Visiting Assistant Professor of Acting & Directing beginning August 2015. Primary responsibilities include: teaching courses in acting – Stanislavski based for beginning and advanced majors, and non-majors, in an undergraduate BA program, directing 1 show and mentoring students. Additional responsibilities include advising student musical performance group and coaching KCACTF Irene Ryan nominees. Expertise in one or more of the following areas desirable: musical theatre, voice & dialect work, improvisation, Shakespearean performance, movement for the actor. The candidate should have demonstrated commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level and be able to show evidence of teaching effectiveness. MFA required and professional experience desirable. Weathervane Playhouse Call for Actors! 8x10 TheatreFest

Today is the deadline for submissions to the Weathervane Playhouse 10 minute play Contest and Festival. This is Weathervane's Fifth Annual TheatreFest - a celebration of the 10 minute play. This year we received just shy of 200 submissions - the most ever! Next, at the end of May, a panel of Second Round Judges will meet, have readings and choose the 8 Finalist plays that will be presented on TheatreFest Weekend - July 10, 11, and 12. Because we haven't actually chosen the Finalists, we can't provide a list of potential roles. But if you are an actor and want to get involved in a project that requires little in the way of time commitment but offers a tremendously enjoyable creative experience, contact me. When the shows are chosen and we know what roles may be available, directors will be contacting those who could possibly fill those roles. There will be about 6 rehearsals (not including dress rehearsals) from the beginning of June thru till TheatreFest in mid-July. This allows directors to work around conflicts/vacations.
