LAND OF CLEVE REVIEW: Magical Musical * 'Mary Poppins' * Enthralls Audiences at Olmsted Performing Arts Director Angela Boehm has embraced the show's mantra that “anything can happen if you let it.” She and her creative crew have pulled out all the stops when it comes to stage sorcery and theatrical tricks. But Boehm has also installed a lot of heart into the proceedings, and by the end of the journey you will feel concern and compassion for Mary and her adopted family. She is admirably aided by choreographers Megan Nicole and Abbi Cavanaugh along with music director Judy Crandall and conductor Tim Strelau. Boehm has also cast the show to perfection, beginning with powerhouse performers Rachel Anderson and Shane Patrick O'Neill as Mary and Bert, who relish their roles with vigorous vocals and compelling characterizations. Michael Ryan Boehm and Jade Mcgee (understudied by Lily Kozub) impeccably portray the children as they go from cautious to carefree throughout the course of the action. Similarly, Jeffrey E. Braun and Holly Feiler make a triumphant transformation as Mr. and Mrs. Banks. Candace Russell bristles beautifully as housekeeper Mrs. Brill, and Stuart Landes is suitably flabbergasted as the butler Robertson. AUDITIONS: A short Film in the 48 hour film project (http://www.48hourfilm.com/en/cleveland/) 2 women and 2 men between the ages of 18-40 years old needed for unpaid film roles About the 48 hour film project... How the 48 hour film festival works is that you select a genre out of a hat on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 7:00pm. This genre could vary between Horror, Romance, Thriller, and even Musical. There are several other genres but the point is you don't know what you are making till you get your genre. Then we scramble to write a story, meet up with the actors around 9:00pm and finalize the story. On the next day, Saturday, July 11, 2015 we would shoot the film from 8:00am-5:00pm. Coffee, doughnuts and lunch would be provided to the cast and crew. Then the film is edited and submitted by Sunday, July 12, 2015 between 5:00pm-7:00pm. The film would be screened in the large theater at the Capitol Cinema on either Wednesday, July 22, 2015 or Thursday, July 23, 2015. We will be assigned that date and time later on. Then the film has the chance to compete in an international film festival competing against 130 cities worldwide. About me... Over the past 4 years I have competed 5 times winning 2 awards. I have created a streamlined crew, we are experienced in how to make the most out of this project but we are missing one key ingredient, reliable and good actors. About the auditions... So ideally I would like current pictures of you, a recent run down on roles you have played, and availability. What I'm looking for is chameleons, actors that can play dark and disturbing roles to lighter more comical roles. If I think you fit into the group then I would phone interview you and ask about your interests and motivations. Once the core group is assembled then we would meet up one time and see that there are no chemistry problems, we would perhaps do a little improvisation role play to see how you are on the spot. After that the next time we would meet up would be Friday, July 10, 2015 to collaborate on your character in the film. Dynamics Community Theater of Tallmadge will hold auditions for the Tony Award winning fairy tale adventure, Shrek the Musical. Music by Jeanine Tesori. Book and lyrics by David Lindsey-Abaire. Based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig. Auditions will be held on May 26-27th from 6:30-8:30 pm in the Black Box Theater at Tallmadge High School (140 North Monroe Rd). Callbacks, if needed, will be held May 28th. Please bring a picture (it will not be returned), prepare 16 bars to sing A Capella, and be prepared to read from a script provided that evening. There is casting for 4 male and 3 female leads, with a featured ensemble of many fairy tale characters and dancers. Limited casting available for 3rd - 8th grades. Those wishing to audition for leads are encouraged to sing something in the style and range of that character. In addition, Tap auditions will also be held the same days and times. Dancers with intermediate or advanced level Tap should prepare 16 bars for audition. Performers may audition for ONLY Tap, ONLY Acting/Vocal, or both.
