Studio 11 in Tremont will now be hosting adult advanced modern classes for a 10 week session led by local dancer Rebecca Burcher. Classes will focus on exploring and strengthening the body’s natural pathways and sequences through various post-modern and modern techniques. Class will contain elements of improvisation, core-distal relationship, sequencing, spiraling, release, and dynamic contrast. Dancers will be encouraged to focus on individual goals and pathways with support and direction from the instructor. Our "Come Laugh With Us" season continues with the Marshall Karp comedy "Squabbles. Ably directed by Brad Sales, this play has something for anyone who has ever had one of "those" relatives who just loves to debate everything and anything. Abe, the live-in father-in-law (Dale Hruska) is one such fellow. Life is challenging enough for Jerry and Alice (Mike Frye and Kelly Dillon Blackford), who share their home with him. When Jerry's mother (Bernadette Hisey) must also move in, the gloves are definitely off. The cast also includes Dave Stacko, Mason Adams and Becky Linder, all of whom add to the humor of this fun show. Performances are February 9, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 8 p.m., with 2 Sunday matinees, February 19 and 26 at 3 p.m. All seats are $15. Reservations are encouraged. We are looking for professionals and students who are teachable and able to assimilate into our organizational culture and aesthetic. Inlet is a modern dance company with a technical base grounded in Hawkins-based release technique, Pilobolus-based nontraditional partnering, and a collaborative creative process that relies on improvisation skills. Inlet is equally strong in education programming as it is in performing concert and special event work. The company seeks highly skilled dance artists with a desire to educate as well as perform. Inlet Dance Theatre employs a "get to know you" approach to auditions. We are looking to determine fit with Inlet’s culture and aesthetic, as well as create an opportunity for you to see if Inlet’s programming and culture is a good fit for you. "Proof" by David Auburn is directed by Dr. Jerry C. Jaffe, Associate Professor of Theatre, Lake Erie College. Auditions are Tuesday, Feb. 14, and Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 5:00 p.m. both nights at the Royce Hall for the Fine and Performing Arts on the campus of Lake Erie College. On the eve of her 25th birthday, Catherine has spent years caring for her brilliant but un-stable father, a famous mathematician. Unforeseen events complicate matters, bringing the arrival of an estranged sister as well as a former student. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. No monologue need be prepared. Available roles include one female in her twenties, one male and one female in their thirties and one male, age 50 or older. Performance dates are Mar. 31 through Apr. 9.
