The Fine Arts Association announces auditions for: "Xanadu" Director - David Malinowski Musical Director - Eddie Carney About the Show: Xanadu follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California. in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time - the first ROLLER DISCO! (Hey, it's 1980!) But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation, and chaos abounds. Xanadu is a moving, electrifying tale of endless fun that will keep audiences in stitches while the original legendary, chart-topping tunes lift them out of their seats. THE STORY: Set in the newest "in" Manhattan restaurant, the play opens with an ethereal waiter preparing for the arrival of a party of four. Just as the two couples are about to enter, it magically begins to snow making the night perfect for a cozy after-theater supper. The two middle-aged couples, Marty and Terry, and Renee and Phil, old friends reuniting after three years, have just seen a new Broadway play. Shedding the formality of the theater, the four friends settle into the comfort of the restaurant, order cocktails and begin to reacquaint themselves. The years and distance separating them have changed them more than they thought. Discussing the play and playing catch-up leads to little arguments and major differences of opinion. More drinks are ordered and apologies ease the way into dinner over which are discussed sex, the wearing of fur, matters of health and problems with their children. Time and distance aside, these couples know each other very well and will always be close friends. A third couple, Emily and Matt, acquaintances of Marty and Terry, stop by the table to say hello. After introductions, they are convinced to stay for a nightcap even though Emily has already had too much to drink. The nightcap sends her over the edge, and when the recent tragic death of her son is brought up, the uncomfortable situation is made worse. Emily makes a drunken, public spectacle of herself, forcing Matt to all but carry her out of the restaurant. The ugliness of the moment is not lost on Marty, Terry, Renee and Phil, all of whom are deeply affected. Having shared painful secrets and made new discoveries about one another, the four put their disagreements and arguments behind them and forge ahead in friendship until next time. Bay Village Community Theater will hold auditions for its fall production, "War of the Worlds: The Panic Broadcast" Monday July 16 and Tuesday July 17 7-10 pm at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 468 Bradley Rd., Bay Village.Director Chris Bizub is looking for a diverse group of 6-8 actors/actresses (ages 18 +) with the ability to play up to 60+ roles. All roles are open and all ethnicities considered. The ability to make varied vocal characterizations is a must. The ability to do accents is a plus. Actors/Actresses with the ability to do vocal impersonations of famous/historical characters will be heavily considered. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Description: An alien invasion throws humanity into chaos in the classic sci-fi novel The War of the Worlds - but all it took to cause real-life panic in the streets was Orson Welles's 1938 radio adaptation, which listeners took for news. Now, ten years later the WBFR radio ensemble recreates the colorful events surrounding the infamous evening, including the full original broadcast. Complete with vintage commercials and live sound effects, this radio-play-within-a-play is a thrilling homage to the form's golden age and timely reminder of what fear can do to a society. Calling all POTENTIAL ACTORS/MODELS for a photography project to begin in August! Collaborating with a Cleveland photography studio to create live, posed "movie stills" to illustrate a short novel, soon to be published. Shooting would take place mostly in the Canton/Massillon area. The time period is 1918. Looking for models who can provide their own (approximate) costumes. No compensation offered on this one, but everyone would get credit in a "cast list" at the start of the book, titled "Flickers", along with the photographer. Auditions for The Remarkable Incident at Carson Corners at Strongsville Community Theatre

STRONGSVILLE COMMUNITY THEATRE Is excited to announce auditions for their October production! Reginald Rose's The Remarkable Incident at Carson Corners was a television drama that first aired in 1955; however, it has a compelling relevance to the current "March for Our Lives" movement sparked by the recent violence in Parkland, FL. at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School. In this fable, the students of Carson Corners High School take matters into their own hands when a Freshman dies violently during a school lunch period. They ultimately teach the adults about responsibility and accountability. This production has a large cast with roles for 14 adults and 11 students, comprised of 12 males and 13 females. Adult roles range from corporate and educational professionals to blue-collar workers, one of which speaks in broken English. Age range for students is Freshman through Senior. Carson Corners will be directed by Mark Seven, who also directed Looking and Spoon River Anthology for SCT in recent years. Auditions are scheduled for the following dates: Sundays, July 15 and July 22 from 12:30 - 3 pm Mondays, July 16 and July 23 from 6 - 9 pm They will take place at the Strongsville Senior Center (located in the west end of the Recreation Center), 18100 Royalton Rd, behind the Target store. Performance dates are: October 12 - 14, and 19 - 21, 2018. *SCT auditions are open to everyone, and no roles are pre-cast. All ethnicities are invited. *No appointments will be taken, but please plan to plan to stay for group readings. *Prepared monologues are not required. Script cuttings and character descriptions will be provided. *SCT does not offer union contracts; all performances are volunteer.
