It’s the perfect occasion for his ghost to return to tell his wife he loved her … something he neglected to tell her for 41 years. The problem is, Mom can't hear or see him, and besides, she’s invited a date for dinner. *A NICE FAMILY GATHERING: CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:* *CARL*: 30’s -The middle brother. Carl is an aspiring writer who is currently working as a delivery truck driver. A good guy. Lacking direction at this time. *MOM*: 60’s loving and caring. She is struggling to deal with the loss of her husband and is showing signs of memory loss. *DAD*: 60’s Recently deceased. He visits the family at this gathering but is only seen and heard by his son, Carl. He wants to make sure that the family knows that he truly loves them all and he is sorry for never telling them. *MICHAEL*: 30’s The older brother. Michael is married to Jill and is a Doctor like his father. Struggling with financial issues and fertility issues. *JILL*: Late 20’s or early 30’s Sweet and emotional. Going through fertility issues. *STACY*: 20’s - early 30’s Sister to Michael and Carl. Has secrets to share at the gathering. Announces she is Gay and Pregnant. *JERRY*: 60’s - Family friend who might be interested in dating the Mom. Jokester *MRS. ENQUIST*: Next door neighbor. Never seen. Voiceover only. Bring on enchantment, feuding families and romance! Shakespeare’s *The Tempest* at Great Lakes’ Hanna Theatre in Playhouse Square welcomes live audiences for the first time since the 2020 Big Shutdown. Director Sara Bruner and her merry crew create a fitting celebration in this lively presentation of (what may be) the last play Shakespeare wrote alone — and, perhaps consequently, one that falls into poetry and senior philosophy at the expense of plot. But who cares? With beautiful speeches like Prospero’s meditative lines —”We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep” — it’s easy to look inward and at the islands we find our lives lived on today. A Holiday Comedy *Ethan Claymore*by Norm Foster *November 5 – December 5, 2021* Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm (no performance on Thanksgiving) It’s a week before Christmas, and struggling egg farmer/artist Ethan Claymore meets a woman who could turn his life around. But things are shaken up when Ethan receives a visit from his estranged, and recently deceased, older brother. The play is directed by Robert Gibb and featured in our cast are Jeff Bartholomew as Ethan Claymore, Kristin Bartholomew as Teresa Pike, Charles Cover as Martin Claymore, Jake Hunter as Young Ethan, Peg Neeson as Dottie McClaren and Rick Schuler as Young Martin. Admission is $18 for adults, $17 for seniors (60+), and $10 for students (any age with a valid ID) and may be purchased by calling the Box Office at 440-331-0403 Wednesday through Saturday from 1-6 p.m. or visiting www.clagueplayhouse.org. Clague Playhouse is located at 1371 Clague Road in Westlake. FREE STUDENT TICKET THURSDAYS: limited FREE Student Tickets (high school and college) are available by calling the Box Office at 440-331-0403 to reserve for any Clague Playhouse Thursday performance, and showing a Student ID at the time of ticket pickup. No online reservations can be taken for these free tickets. Free Student Ticket Thursdays are subject to availability and must be picked up by 7:30 pm the night of the performance or will be released. Our productions are subject to change due to COVID-19 restrictions. Our Board of Directors strongly recommends the wearing of masks while within our building. Must be available for show the morning of Nov 1st in the Cleveland Area. Rehearsal dates are evenings Oct 25th-Oct 27th. $120 per show. $25 per hour in person rehearsals -- ongoing work for a Theatre Company in CLEVELAND focused on spreading awareness about substance use disorder. • We are a recovery-friendly workplace. Priority is given to actors in recovery from drug and alcohol use, OR who have a lived experience with substance use disorder (i.e. have a personal relationship or lived experience with family/friends / significant others with substance use disorder). • 2nd Act is a newly merged organization of Improbable Players (IP) and COAAST that has been using theater performances and workshops to address addiction and the opioid epidemic for the combined past 37+ years. Together they provide educational programming & workshops to youth across OH, MA, NY, and RI and work with schools, organizations, and other nonprofits to spread their message and support to a wide audience. These three dispirited souls — D-Bear, a reformed thug; Skully, an alcoholic handyman; and Dime, a transgender sex worker — have created a space for themselves and their makeshift family. They have survived in the worst part of the worst ghetto in Ohio, thriving in what D-Bear calls “the end of the world.” This is where we find the trio when D-Bear receives news that a vicious enemy from his past has been released and is returning soon. As this showdown plays out, the fragile bonds that hold the trio together are strained to the point of rupture.
