Beck Center for the Arts<http://www.beckcenter.org/> is pleased to produce the hilarious musical comedy that brings Shakespeare to vibrant life, Something Rotten! Now in his thirty-third season, Beck Center for the Arts' Artistic Director Scott Spence<https://www.beckcenter.org/about/leadership> says, "Theater audiences are always asking...."Aren't there any ORIGINAL musicals anymore? At least some that are not based on movies?" Well, the answer is a resounding YES! Something Rotten! is that musical. A completely original idea that takes its cue from using common Shakespeare references and well-known characters (including the Bard himself), and wrapping it around the concept.... 'Where are all the musicals from 1590???' Something Rotten! answers this question and more while serving up huge laughs, great music and over-the-top dance numbers (dancing eggs anyone?)." Something Rotten! was written by John O'Farrell, and Karey Kirkpatrick, with music and lyrics by Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick. Direction by Scott Spence, Musical Direction by Larry Goodpaster, and Choreography by Martín Céspedes. This production runs now - August 7, 2022, in the Senney Theater. Additional performances include Thursday July 28 & August 4, 2022. CASTING CALL for student thesis film “CRIMINA HUMANA” Logline: An intruder breaks into the house of a paranoid recluse. A persecuted lawyer finds a loophole to circumvent his legal troubles. A nephew stumbles onto a crime scene involving his uncle, who's fate lies in his hands. This will be a NON-UNION production led by Seniors of Cleveland State University’s School of Film and Media Arts. Actors must be available on weekends in October and early November. Chadrick Peterson (Featured Extra): (20’s, Male, White) Conspiracy obsessed talking head. Internet personality with meager audience of devout followers. “Tells it how it is”. Salah (Lead): (Late 40’s, Male, Any Ethnicity) Corrupt white collar accountant whose deeds caught up to him and his family. Now under investigation, he devises a way to help his family and circumvent his punishment. Actor must be comfortable with stunts and special FX makeup. Andrea (Supporting Lead): (30’s, Female, Any Ethnicity) Mother and wife to Salah, facing the legal and financial consequences of her husband’s espionage. Her patience runs thin as she takes their kid and stays with her parents. Fitz (Supporting): (60’s, Male, Any ethnicity) Salah’s Lawyer. He’s known Salah all his life and has gotten used to his outbursts. Loyal and means the best, but is hopelessly drowning in paperwork. Peter (Lead): (Early 20’s, Male, Italian) Carefree nephew to Bobby, a notorious mobster. On the night of a family wedding reception, Peter makes an impromptu visit to Bobby’s house and walks in on a dirty secret. Bobby/Kirk (Lead): (Late 40’s, Male, Italian) Older widower with evident mob ties. Quick to anger and rash decisions, which can be dangerous at times. He now works as an upstanding police officer. She acts with tough love for her son who’s late to a family wedding reception. She’s oblivious to the situation at hand.

The Kent Trumbull Theatre is holding auditions for their production of "The Impracticality of Modern Day Mastodons" by Rachel Teagle. Suddenly all childhood dreams have come true, and the world is full of astronauts, ballerinas, cowboys, and princesses. It's a brave and glorious new world for everyone but Jess, who wanted to be a mastodon when she grew up. With the help of her friendly vocational adviser and her super-spy boyfriend, Jess embarks on a journey to find her place in the world, and discover why it seems to be unraveling. An offbeat comedy about ambition, vocation, and restlessness. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. All students and community members are welcome to try out. Cory brings both experience in theater and business savvy to this historic organization. For 25 years, she has worked as an Equity and non-Equity performer, director, producer, instructor, and writer throughout Northeast Ohio, and Atlanta, Georgia. Cory studied Theater and Creative Writing at Baldwin-Wallace University and went on to specialize in both Contemporary Theatre Production and Children’s Theatre at the University of Hull in Scarborough, England. After returning to Northeast Ohio, Cory held management positions at several arts organizations, including the Museum of Contemporary Art and Near West Theatre. She has also served as the Creative Director of Kringle’s Inventionasium Experience in downtown Cleveland, an interactive theatrical attraction she co-founded in 2007. North Ridgeville Auditions consist of reading sections of the script. Many actors will need to feel comfortable with physical comedy during performances. Synopsis In this brand new, face-paced farce, Heather finally gets the opportunity to display her artwork in a local gallery but it happens on the same day she’s moving out of her apartment. When the movers arrive, she accidentally sends her furniture to the gallery and her artwork to the new apartment. With Cindy’s job at stake, the women play along like this was what they wanted displayed. The hilarity continues when Artini Bagoni isn’t able to critique the venue, placing Vicky, who doesn't know anything about art, as the role of a famous and knowledgeable art connoisseur.
