Cleveland Dance Project is accepting choreographer applications for our Season 10 Showcase! We encourage a diversity of styles, levels, and abilities in our all adult dance show. Deadline to apply is this Saturday at 11:59pm. Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted. Choreographers are expected to produce a short group work under 4 minutes, and will hold weekly 90 minute rehearsals in the fall culminating in a show on December 3 at Cleveland Heights High School. Dancers are cast into pieces at our placement auditions on August 28. Rehearsal time is paid for & arranged by CDP. Choreographers are compensated with free CDP tuition if they choose to dance in other pieces, as well as free professional video footage of their piece. Beck Center for the Arts seeks a talented and engaging arts education instructor(s) to join our theater education faculty. In this role, the instructor will lead theater education classes while promoting and nurturing the education of students by planning and implementing effective and developmentally appropriate classroom experiences; providing a safe environment conducive to learning; keeping students informed as to the plan for the course and the activities taking place at Beck Center for the Arts. The instructor will be an entry point to first time students, while serving as an advocate for Beck Center to our students and the community. Reporting to the Associate Director of Theater Education, the arts educator will: * possess the ability to engage students of various age ranges in arts education programs while assisting students in expressing themselves through the theater arts. * be responsible, reliable, and professional. And have the ability to work independently. * have the ability to fulfill all the responsibilities and duties of a classroom teacher, keeping records/tracking attendance and ability to manage a classroom or studio environment. * possess ability to work with a diverse team, including other arts professionals and arts administrators. * Teach any or all of the following classes: Step into Storytime (Ages 4-7) Sat 9:00-9:45 am (9/10/22-12/17/22) Students delve into an exploration of creative dramatics, movement, listening skills, and creative arts. Students act out new stories each week, and learn about characters, stagecraft, and storytelling. The class stresses positive self-development and interaction. Acting Adventures (Ages 4-7) Sat 10:00-10:45 am (9/10/22-12/17/22) This class is designed to introduce children to theater through improvised imagination as each week students collectively conquer a new adventure. Students focus on projecting their voices, listening for directions, developing stage presence, and working together while stretching their imaginations. Little Folks Theater I (Ages 4-5) Sat 11:00-11:45 am (9/10/22-12/17/22) Little Folks introduces our younger students to the magic of theater and is also designed for returning students as new exercises and material are explored each semester. Children engage in lively classroom activities involving creative dramatics, movement, listening skills, and creative art. This class stresses positive self-development and interaction. Little Folks Theater II (Ages 6-7) Sat 12:00-12:45 pm (9/10/22-12/17/22) Continuing from and building upon the work started in Little Folks Theater, students delve deeper in their exploration of creative dramatics, movement, listening skills, and creative art. The class stresses positive self-development and interaction. You do not need to have taken Little Folks Theater I to enroll in Little Folks Theater II. Requirements include: * Possesses the proficiency (either through education and/or experience) to engage students of all abilities and teach concepts for specific courses taught. * A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in the art form is preferred. * Bachelor or Master's degree preferred. Individual's working toward their degree in theater education may be considered. * Experience Requirement: Extensive knowledge of art form and previous teaching experience (3-5 years) preferred. * Employees must pass a background check. Laycock. Vocal direction and staging will be under the direction of Ms. Kira Seaton and Mr. John D. This family-friendly event is in collaboration with the residents of the West Clinton Block Club and immerses our audience deep into our Detroit Shoreway Community. Scary and humorous scenes are staged in local businesses and on the porches and lawns of homes on West Clinton. This interactive, scripted, and improv experience will draw inspiration from events, people, and hauntings of the early 20th century when Cleveland was known as the “Sixth City”. Independence Community Theater welcomes you to audition for *Annie* by Thomas Meehan, Charles Straus, and Martin Charnin, directed by Richard Todd.
