But that’s not our call… About the Performers: Nici is thrilled to once again be working on “Tails from the Witch’s Cauldron” with Benjamin and Kyle. This is her second go-around at this storytelling performance and she is loving every minute of it. Nici is a graduate of the University of Akron with a BA in Theater, Art, and Design and has performed and directed in various theaters throughout the Akron and Cleveland area. She has worked for companies such as: Heads Up Productions, Ma'sue Productions, and Wandering Aesthetics. Some of her favorite roles have been Flo (Picnic), Fran (1,000 Hills), Olympe (A Flea in Her Ear), Duke Fredrick (As You Like It) and Trail Angel (Trail Magic). Nici is looking forward to developing some of her own projects over the next year. Thank you to her mom for the constant support and Josie, Colty, and Roar for letting mommy live her dreams! Drawing on a work ethic derived from his path to Eagle Scout, Kyle Jozsa co-founded the storytelling theatre company, Wandering Aesthetics in 2013 with his partner in work and life, Benjamin Rexroad. Kyle serves as Wandering Aesthetics’ Artistic Director, Director of Education and primary Storyteller. As such, Kyle is charged with collecting stories from the heart of Appalachia to the shores of the Cuyahoga, creating dynamic storytelling performances and inspiring students of all ages to find their voices and tell their own tales. Kyle’s theatrical training includes an intensive summer program at Double Edge Theatre in Asheville, MA, multiple workshops with Akron’s own New World Performance Laboratory and extensive work with Director Benjamin Rexroad. Following his hike of the 2,186-mile Appalachian Trail, Kyle made the transition to solo performer. Most recently Kyle was named the 2016 Akron Arts Alive! Award Winner for Outstanding Artist in Theater.

Review of "San Merci" at none too fragile

none too fragile’s ‘Sans Merci’ a hard to watch, must-see drama Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal Member, International Association of Theatre Critics Merciless. That word not only translates the title of Johnna Adams’ brutally honest, achingly tender and excruciatingly bold 2008 drama “Sans Merci,” it pretty much describes none too fragile’s spectacular production of it. The play’s title and devastating theme of love, death and unrelenting longing are drawn from John Keats’ 1884 poem “La Belle Dame Sans Merci,” which tells the tale of an unfortunate “death-pale” knight who is bewitched by a beautiful woman who steals his heart and then leaves him stranded and alone, forever thinking of and yearning for her. The poem was written in a slow and economical form with a deliberate and masterful absence of detail, intended to entice the reader to read on and want more. And so does this play. CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS MANY ROLES OPEN TO ALL GENDERS * Narrator, Soprano or Tenor (Low A to High A): The principle storyteller, not of the time or place of the action, the Narrator tells the story through word and song, guiding the audience through the story of Joseph and his brothers. * Joseph, Tenor (Low B-flat to High G): Obviously his father's favorite, Joseph early on shows a talent for interpreting dreams and telling the future. This gets him into trouble with his brothers when he predicts his future will include ruling over the other eleven. * Jacob, Baritone (Low B to High D-flat): The father of the twelve sons, Jacob definitely favors Joseph. At times he may appear unfair and shallow, but he is, more importantly, the prophet who recognizes the future and the calling of Joseph, thus saving the House of Israel. * The Brothers: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Naphtali, Issachar, Asher, Dan, Zebulun, Gad, Benjamin, Judah. The brothers need to be a range of ages, from teen to 30's/40's. Although acting usually as a group, they have their own different personalities, talents, and flaw. As a group they sell Joseph into slavery, but as individuals they deal with the following years and how they can make amends. * Potiphar, Baritone (Low D to B): A powerful and rich Egyptian, Potiphar purchases Joseph and puts him to work in his household, where he soon realizes that Joseph is honest, hard-working, and a great addition to his pool of help. When he grows suspicious of his wife and Joseph, however, he grows angry and has Joseph thrown into prison. * Mrs. Potiphar, Alto/Mezzo (Low D to A): Beautiful and scheming, Mrs. Potiphar tries to seduce Joseph (unsuccessfully). However, she does manage to rip off much of his clothing just as her husband comes into the room, thus condemning him to prison. * Baker, Tenor (Low D to High G): One of Pharaoh's servants, the Baker is in prison with Joseph who correctly interprets his dreams and predicts that he will be put to death. * Butler, Tenor (Low C to High G): Another of Pharaoh's servants, the Butler is also in prison with Joseph who also correctly interprets his dreams, this time that he will be released and taken back into Pharaoh's household. It is the Butler who tells Pharaoh about Joseph and his uncanny ability with dreams. * Pharaoh, Tenor/Baritone (Low B-flat to High A-flat): Typically performed as an Elvis Presley impersonation. The most powerful man in Egypt, Pharaoh is considered a god on earth. When Joseph interprets his dreams, he promotes him to one of the highest positions in his government.

EVENT: Dover Players' Presents a New Drama - Branches Dover Players' original drama, Branches, is an intriguing combination of Our Town and The Twilight Zone. Protagonist, John Ryan, in a dreamlike state, revisits points in his life, branches, where he had faced options and finds himself trapped by a Twilight Zone-like twist. What makes Branches unique is the fact that the audience determines the outcome. The show is written and directed by the creative local playwright and actor, Gregory J. Lavelle. John recently had a one night stand with a woman in his office and cannot bring himself to confess to his wife. The audience then decides whether to bail John out, or to let him face the consequences of his actions.
